Hi I'm Jonathan

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. I am going to school in Pennsylvania for Game Art & Design. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Provo, Utah and moved with my family a number of different times around the Pacific Northwest. When I was twelve, my family moved to Ohio for work. Later I became involved in my Singles' branch and I attended a Young Single Adult Conference in Pennsylvania where I met an investigator who eventually became my wife. I am now in Pennsylvania attending school while my wife prepares herself to give birth to our first child.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and baptized when I was eight just like any other Mormon, but I wasn't always particularly interested in the gospel; I was simply going through the motions. It wasn't until I graduated high school that I really started getting serious about whether or not the church I had been attending my entire life was correct or not. I had previously asked in prayer a number of different times whether or not the church was true, but I lacked sincerity and the unfamiliar feeling of the Holy Ghost was weak because of it. I would always credit the feeling to some other cause. One night after a church meeting that gave me a heightened state of spirituality, I decided to take the matter to my Heavenly Father again, but with much more sincerity and commitment to the answer that I would receive. I decided that if I felt that the church was true, I would make the necessary changes and work toward keeping this good feeling with me continually, but if I had no such confirmation that I would continue doing as I pleased. Before I could finish speaking the words I was hit with a wave of emotion, causing my eyes to well up with tears. I knew for a fact that the church was true, that the Book of Mormon was written by ancient American prophets, that Joseph Smith translated said record and that we have a living prophet today who truly speaks face to face with our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Since my high school years, I have held a number of different callings from Branch Music Chairman to 11-Year-Old Scout Leader and I know that these callings are just as much for the individual as it is for the rest of the ward. My wife and I are soon to be welcoming our first child into the world and we are both very excited to help this soul through mortality. We both pray and fear for our child as he or she must grow in these difficult and confusing times. We're doing our best to prepare ourselves to become good parents that may lead our children into life eternal.
