Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married and a father of 5 wonderful children - 2 boys and 3 girls. My two highest priorities in life are to serve God and to love and serve my family. It is a blessing to have been given the opportunity to raise my kids with my amazing wife. All my life I have enjoyed working with my hands and creating things. I decided to become a dentist to combine my love of creating and building with my interest in science and biology. It took many years of hard work and schooling, but I achieved my goal. Today, I am a pediatric dentist and I love working with infants, children, and teens. My career can be stressful at times, but it is also very rewarding. I love learning and finding ways to get kids to enjoy doing things they might otherwise find difficult or scary. I get to work with my hands and be creative and improve lives in the process - what could be better! I love to ski and spend time outdoors running and playing with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Life is difficult. This world can be confusing and frustrating. Sometime we may wonder if God is really out there and if He can really see us and hear us. Bad things happen to good people. The evil influences of the world are all around us and it can be difficult to know what path to take. I am a Mormon because it is in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints that I find peace and assurance that God has a plan for me as one of his children. It is through Christ's restored church that I understand who I am, where I came from, why I am here on this earth, and what will happen after I die. It is through the church that I understand what Jesus Christ has done for me and how I can follow him and be forgiven of my sins. My family is the most important part of my life. As a Mormon, I know that if I am faithful and keep God's commandments, I can return to live with Him and with my family following this life. Families can be together forever. I know that God loves me and that he is watching over me. I have felt his love, guidance and direction as I pray and read the scriptures. My life hasn't been easy, but I know that my life has a purpose and that gives me hope and comfort as I work through the challenges I face.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving my community in both my professional and personal life. I work in an underserved community where there is a great deal of need. Combining the skills of my profession with the Spanish language skills I obtained on my mission in Bolivia and the Christ-like compassion I feel for the children and families I serve helps me find great satisfaction in my professional career. I live my faith through home teaching, which allows me to share gospel messages and provide service to my neighbors. I have also served in many other capacities in the church and I am willing to do whatever God would have me do in his service. I love to serve in the Temple - I find great peace and comfort within the temple. Going to the temple frequently has been a great blessing in my life as it keeps me focused on what is most important in life despite all of the distractions in the world. Perhaps the greatest evidence of how I live my faith is shown through how I teach my children to love and serve God and Jesus Christ. I am teaching them to be good Christians and to follow the example of the Savior as they love and serve others.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ give my life purpose and meaning. As part of the plan of salvation or plan of happiness for his children, God wants each of us to return to live with following our time here on earth. God requires that we be clean and pure in order to live in his presence. He knew that we would sin and fall short of perfection in this life. He provided a savior for us. Christ atoned for our sins, providing a way for us to repent and become clean again. Repentance, made possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, is God’s gift of spiritual progression. Without it, we are stuck and cannot move forward. When properly applied, repentance allows us to progress. Without the Atonement of Jesus Christ we are hopeless, lost, and unhappy. With it, we have the ability to work out our kinks, overcome our weaknesses, refine our characters and continually draw closer to our Father in Heaven, in other words, to become more like him. It gives purpose to life and allows each of us to achieve our divine potential. For this reason, the Atonement is the key to our current and future happiness. Show more Show less
