Hi I'm Jeannie

I'm a wife, mother, sister and Nana of 10. I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a retired school teacher and love learning new things. I love teaching music classes to children 4-8 years old, playing with my grandkids and family, traveling, gardening, and reading. I love animals and as a child I had a pet monkey, trick horse and several dogs. Luckily all the animals I have now consist of a desert tortoise, cat, two dogs, and a dozen chickens. Still my favorite joy is my family. When I was a young child, I had scoliosis of the spine and had to wear a back brace. It was quite humbling for an active teenager. My curve continuted to get worse so in 2009 I had twelve vertebrae fused. It was a painful operation but the out pouring of love from family and friends will never be forgotten. I am grateful I'm still able to be active and productive.

Why I am a Mormon

I am so grateful for my faith. It gives me hope and direction in a troubled world. I am so grateful to know we have a living prophet on the earth today to guide us. President Monson's big smile and love for others is a wonderful example to me. I am grateful for the power of prayer to a loving Heavenly Father. I have had my prayers answered many times. I am grateful for our Father in heaven who loves me and you. I am grateful for the scriptures and the truths that can be found by studying them. They strengthen me daily. I am grateful for the knowledge that this life is our time to learn, grow and be tested with all kinds of trials. I am grateful for the knowledge that families can be together forever and we can see our loved ones who have passed on once again.

How I live my faith

I am far from perfect but I keep trying. I love to serve my family and others. I try to read my scriptures daily and when I do I feel a power of protection from that commitment. I attend church on Sunday and teach a class of eleven to twelve year old girls. This year we have been studying the New Testament and it has thrilled me to see the joy the girls feel in learning about Jesus Christ's life, teachings and atoning sacrifice. My husband and I go to the Mesa Temple each week and feel a special peace there. I try to be a good neighbor and friend. We feel blessed to live in a wonderful neighborhood with wonderful neighbors. I try to help in the community as much as I can.
