Hi I'm Carolyn

I'm a law student, focusing on Internet and Technology law. I recently got engaged to a computer engineer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life, and learning. I studied religion and political science in undergrad, and thus love to talk religion with anyone. I fervently believe that we can all learn more from each other's experiences. In other hobbies, I play the piano, and I'm obsessed with nerdy board games, polka dots, and big band jazz.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because throughout my life, I've discovered that the more time I give to God and serving other people, the happier I am.

How I live my faith

I try to serve other people. I visit friends and serve as a shoulder to cry on. I talk to my family frequently. I host game nights, where everybody is welcome! I love to plan activities to bring people together, where they can build friendships based on great conversation and shared experiences.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Carolyn
I love to study the history of Christianity -- I took lots of classes on it in college, and I still read about it for fun. And the more I've studied, the more I've realized that early Christians had a lot of struggles. It was hard to communicate with others, the church was small, and there were lots of outside cultural influences. The apostles were persecuted and died, without being able to call new leaders. Through the 2nd Century, leading theologians (like Justin Martyr) tried to adhere to the true teachings. But over time, confusion and conflict crept in. There were questions people had, but there was no clear source of authority to answer their questions. That's why we need a restoration. We needed official leaders of the Church, called by God, who can answer our questions and tell us how the Bible applies to the modern day. That way we're not lost trying to figure out how everything applies on our own, to modern questions about culture and media and families and any other number of things. God restored his authority, and gives us prophets, because he loves us. Show more Show less
