Hi I'm Joe

I'm a swing dancer

About Me

My name is Joe, and I am a swing dancer. Alas I am not payed for being awesome, its just my hobby. I practiced for a couple hours 2-3 times a week, working on developing new moves with my partner, who is awesome by the way. I first introduced to it when I was 14, at a youth activity. I continued for a couple years with my partner until she graduated high school, leaving me floundering. I picked it back up when I was 20, practicing with a couple friends, and then my biology lab partner in college. I soared ahead in my knowledge of swing when I joined the Swing club at Southern Utah University, and took my knowledge with me when I moved for work purposes. I just finished teaching the singles at the institute some basic moves at our monthly activity, spreading my love for dancing to them. I also picked up rock-climbing and fencing along the way, diversifying my interests considerably. It builds my strength, balance, and footwork which in turn help me to better my own dancing styles.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and was baptized at 8 years old. Through my early life, I just accepted the church as it was, I didn't really study it out, and I did what my parents told me to. In my teens, I rebelled, and made some very poor choices, and closed a lot of doors for myself. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I was able to pull away from my destructive behaviors, and repent. I may have been born into the gospel, but it is my choice to stay. This is where I need to be.

How I live my faith

Living my faith takes a lot of work. It requires daily scripture study, and institute classes to help fill my spiritual reservoir every week. Some days I miss, and those days are actually tougher on me. I feel the distinct lack of the spirit with me on those days, missing insights that would save me time and a lot of hassle. I also give a lot of work in my callings. Yes plural. I attend a family ward and I am the single adult leader in the ward, as well as one of the assistant ward clerks in the Bishopric. Suffice to say, between work, institute, and fulfilling my duties, it doesnt leave me much time to mess up spiritually. I just remember to SMILE: to be Spiritually Minded Is Life Eternal.
