Hi I'm Kyle

I'm a chemical engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate student in chemical engineering in Colorado, where I do research in granular flows(flows of solid particles). While I have no children of my own, my wife has two kids and I enjoy spending as much time as I can with them. My other interests include reading, video games, and trying to learn to play the drums.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that I was prepared ahead of time to be welcomed into the church. I had an enormous distaste for all of the things that the Word of Wisdom asks us not to partake of. I also am an avid fan of the books of Orson Scott Card. While, I did not know it at the time that I had read it, his saga entitled "Homecoming" is a science fiction take on the book of Mormon, primarily the story of Nephi and his family as they traveled from Jerusalem to America(it was from another world to Earth in the book). My wife(then girlfriend) has been a member all her life and she convinced me to meet with the missionaries. At our first meeting they gave me a book of Mormon and challenged me to read it. As I started to read it, the words seemed eerily familiar and it took me a while to realize, but I found myself recalling Homecoming and as I read further and further, I remembered fondly having read those books a few years previous. This gave me faith that I had been prepared to read the words in the Book of Mormon, and made me want to find out more. Since I decided to join the church, my faith has grown and I have felt the many blessings of following the teachings of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have been called to teach some of our youth at church on Sundays. Not only do I feel the joy of teaching them, but as a relatively new member of the church, it allows me to learn just as much as they do. It brings me great pleasure to assist these young minds as they explore the teachings of the gospel and grow in their testimonies of the teachings of Jesus Christ.
