Hi I'm Carl.

I was raised in the Salt Lake City area. I'm now at home in the Last Frontier. I love the time spent outdoors. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the 4th of 6 children born to a mother & father who early on, moved their small but growing family from New York to northern Utah. After several years of simple Christian examples of neighbors, my mother, then my father, joined the church. I was born about this time in their lives. I grew up like many boys in my area with a love of being active. Especially outdoors. With a healthy imagination, my youth was spent playing (or day-dreaming of) outside. To this day, I feel at ease in the great outdoors. I have also loved day-dreaming of flight, airplanes, & soaring over the wide open spaces. This has turned into a career centered in aviation. That little boy inside of me still loves being around airplanes. I marvel at the majesty of the world around us. I love to experience each day I'm allowed to spend in the great outdoors. I especially enjoy fishing, photography, and sharing the results of both. I served as a missionary in southern Japan. During that time, I developed a great love for the culture, language, and the people that I came to meet. After my return home, I studied the language at the UofU. I was then blessed to get to know a girl that had also served in the same area of Japan. Together, we hold a unique love for the people of Japan. Our children have grown up knowing this, even helping with our additional Christmas tree each year that is uniquely Japanese accented & decorated.

Why I am a Mormon

In short, I feel blessed. There is a hymn that encourages us to count our blessings. I continue to find that the number of blessings in my life far outnumber those things that can be seen as negatives. Because of that sense of being so blessed beyond that which should rightfully be given one like myself, I feel the desire to follow the source of those blessings; Jesus Christ. It is through the gospel of Jesus Christ that I have come to know of love. I know of my Heavenly Father and his love for each & every one of his children. I know of the love of his only begotten son, our Savior Jesus Christ, including his ultimate show of atoning love on the cross. I know of these things through the Holy Ghost who has manifested these things (as well as numerous other answers to questions I've had) to my heart. I know of the love of a dear wife, as well as the love of 4 children and a growing number of grandchildren. I'm a Mormon because I have been greatly blessed by following the examples of love and in doing so, I have come to know the truthfulness of the Good Word of Christ.

How I live my faith

I thoroughly enjoy helping others. Whether in simple daily deeds or through their trials of the spirit. I try to make my contact with any individual one that will be remembered positively. I try to offer sincere compliments to all those whom with I interact. I have enjoyed helping on projects of various types & sizes that benefit the community. From building & repairing homes for those in need to benches outside the neighborhood school. From lifting up the spirits of the frail & injured to being there when someone needs a listening ear. My enjoyment comes because I understand that this is what my Heavenly Father would have me do. I am in need of daily improvement in my life. But my understanding of the gospel helps me to have perspective of my trials, my shortcomings, as well as my need to continue enduring. Through this understanding, I feel my life is better, sweeter, & more fulfilling.
