Hi I'm Kyle Leavitt

I grew up in California. I love playing football, I drag race, and I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports, football in particular. If I could I would spend all my afternoons working on my car or getting ready for a drag-race. Most of my friends, if not all of them, tell me Im crazy when I think of new ways to thrill the adrenalin junky side of me, whether its jumping off cliffs or hitting the pedal to the floor in a race. Right now I'm on a mission!! I have been a church member for all my life. However I wouldnt say that I felt like a true and real member till I overcame the death of my father. My church life consisted of me obaying my mother in attending church and the activities with it. My fathers passing took a huge toll on my life. In addition it also shook my testimony. It wasnt until I search the scriptures and asked my Heavenly Father for answers that I felt complete. It wasn't easy, but I always have pushed forward. As I worked harder to build my faith I saw the difference the gospel made in my life. I didnt just drop off a cliff, figuratively, and fight against God. I took atcion and because of that leap of faith I know that I want this church and Christs true gospel in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Deep down the one reason I am Mormon is because I was taught and have come to a knowledge that I know families can be together forever. This one small principle brings hope to so many people, children and parents alike, to believe that they will one day see lost loved ones. As my grounding point it has made me strive to do my best in keeping myself worthy to one day enter the kingdom of God, and be reunited with my father who is passed on.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day of the week 100%, well at least I try too. I am strong and active in my faith. I have participated in many different callings in my ward, participated in a ton of service projects, and stive to be the best example I can be every day.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Kyle Leavitt
WE ALL WONDER IF WE ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING IN OUR LIVES. FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARENT SURE WHAT RELIGION IS TRUE THE BEST WAY TO DO IT IS TO TRUELY PRAY ABOUT IT. IF YOU EVER HAVE BEEN TAUGHT BY MORMON MISSIONARIES THEY HAVE PROBLY CHALLENGED YOU TO PRAY TO KNOW IF THE BOOK OF MORMON IS TRUE OR WHETHER YOU BELIVE IF GOD IS REALLY THERE. THE CASE IS STILL THE SAME WITH THE QUESTION "IS THE MORMON CHURCH TRUE". YOU REALLY HAVE TO PRAY AND READ THE BOOK OF MORMON TO KNOW FOR YOUR SELF IF ITS TRUE. I KNOW FOR MYSELF PERSONALY I DID THE SAME THING. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER ALL MY LIFE I STILL HAD TO FIND OUT. I STRIVED TO DO SO. I PRAYED AS I READ THE BOOK OF MORMON EVERY DAY. INADDITION I WENT TO CHURCH EVERY SUNDAY. I REALLY WANTED TO KNOW FOR MYSELF AND THE SIMPLE STEPS OF READING, PRAYER AND GOING TO CHURCH PREPARED ME FOR MY ANSWER THAT GOD GAVE ME. What is being a Mormon like?

Kyle Leavitt
THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE THE LIFE OF A MORMON WOULD BE... FUN. I THINK THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE MISUNDERSTAND US AND SEE US AS SUPER RIGHTOUS PEOPLE, BUT WE ARE ACTUALY QUITE NORMAL. YES WE DONT DRINK OR DO DRUGS AND MANY OTHER UNHEALTHY THINGS, HOWEVER MUCH LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WE STILL FIND WAY TO MAKE THE WEEKENDS MEMORABLE WITH FRIENDS. BEING MORMON IS GREAT! YOU CAN HANG OUT WITH AND GET TO KNOW A TON OF GREAT PEOPLE WHO LOVE LIVING THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST. THERE ARE ALL WAYS A GROUP OF YOUTH OR YOUNG ADULTS HAVING GREAT ACTIVITIES. EVERYONE SHARES THE SAME MORAL VALUES AND HIGH STANDARDS THAT HAVE RIGHTOUS PURPOSES. YOUD PROBLY ALLWAYS FIND A MORMON WITH A SMILE ON THERE FACE BECAUSE WE JUST ENJOY LIFE. THE GOOD AND THE BAD. MY PERSONAL FAVORITE PART OF LIVING A MORMON LIFE STYLE IS, THAT I KNOW IM AM TRYIING TO BE THE BEST HUMANBEING POSSIBLE. MORMONS SHARE MANY SIMILAR CHARACTERISTICS, SUCH AS; CHARITY FOR OTHERS, CHOOSING THE RIGHT, AND NOT BEING JUDGEMENTAL. MORMONS ALWAYS TRY TO IMPROVE THESE QUALITIES IN THEMSELVES AND BECAUSE OF IT EVERYTHING STARTS LOOKING UP IN LIFE. AT TIMES IT MAY BE HARD BUT WE KNOW ITS WORTH IT!!! Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Kyle Leavitt
SOME PEOPLE BELIVE THAT MORMON MISIONARIES ARE SENT OUT BYTHE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTERDAY SAINTS AND PAID FOR THEOR SEVICE, IN FACT THEY ARENT. MISSIONARIES MUCH LIKE MY SELF ARE YOUNG ADULTS WHO CHOOSE TO SERVE THE LORD FOR TWO YEARS. WE HAVE TO FIND WAYS TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY, THROUGH WORKING JOBS OR ASKING FAMILY FOR HELP, TO PAY FOR OUR MISSIONS. WHEN THE TIME COMES WE SEND IN OUR PAPERS TO THE CHURCH AND WAIT TO SEE WHERE WE WILL BE SPENDING THE "BEST TWO YEARS OF OUR LIVES". EVERYTHING WE USE ON OUR MISSIONS ARE PAID MOSTLY BY THE CHURCH. THE CHURCH BASICALY PROVIDES A PLAN FOR THE MONEY WE SAVED UP AND THEN THE MISSIONARIES USE IT ACORDINGLY. THESE MONIES GO TO FOOD FOR THE MISSIONARIES AND BASIC NESCESITIES (WHEN THE MISSIONARIES HAVE TO GO SHOPPING). WHEN MISSIONARIES HAVE CARS, WE USE THEM AND UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE ON LOAN TO US FROM THE CHURCH. THE CHURCH PAYS FOR AND SEVICES THE CARS WHILE THEY ARE IN OUR USE. AS LONG AS WE USE THEM SAFLY AND WISELY, WE WILL GET TO KEEP THAT PRIVILLAGE. BECAUSE THE CHURCH AIDS THE MISSIONARIES SO MUCH WE ARE ABLE TO GO OUT AND SERVE THE COMMUNITY AND PREACH THE GOSPEL. THE CHURCH AND MISSIONARIES UNDERSTAND THAT THE MAIN IMPROTANCE OF MISSIONARY WORK IS SHARING THE RESTORD GOSPEL OF CHRIST TO THE WORLD, SO THE MORE HELP THE CHURCH PROVIDES THE MORE FOCUSED THE MISSIONARIES CAN BE AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT OTHER THINGS. What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Kyle Leavitt
GRACE IS WONDERFULL. AS SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE BECAUSE OF CHRISTS ATONEMENT. THE ONLY THING IS, IS THAT BECAUSE OF GRACE WE ARE SAVED FROM A PHISICAL DEATH. SO YES WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE, WE ALL ARE, BUT FOR US TO BE SAVED FROM SPIRITUAL DEATH WE MUST DO OUR PART. IN JAMES, FOR EXAMPLE, WE ARE TOLD THAT, "SALVATION IS GAINED BY KEEPING THE WHOLE LAW- FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD". (JAMES 2:26). THE SALVATION OF EACH ONE OF OUR SOULS IS EXTREEMLY IMPORTANT TO GOD. THROUGH THE ATONEMENT OF CHRIST WE RECIEVE GRACE AND HAVE THE OPPERTUNITY TO FOLLOW HIS DOCTRIN. AS WE DO WHAT IS NEEDED TO RETURN TO LIVE WITH GOD, FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS, AND ENDURE TO THE END WE WILL RECEIVE THE SALVATION FOR OUR SOULS. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Kyle Leavitt
NO MORMONS HELP EVERYONE. AS A MISSIONARY AND EVEN BEFORE MY MISSION THE CHURCH HELD MANY SERVICE PROJECTS IN WHICH I OFTEN PARTOOK. THE REASON FOR WHY WE HELP OTHERS IS BECAUSE IT IS WHAT CHRIST TAUGHT. IN 2 NEPHI 26:30 IT SAYS," THE LORD GOD HATH GIVEN A COMMANDMENT THAT ALL MEN SHOULD HAVE CHARITY, WHICH CHARITY IS LOVE." THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS HAS ONE GROUP THAT IS PROBABLY BEST KNOWN FOR ITS CHARITY, THE MORMON HELPING HANDS GROUP. FOR EXAMPLE THE LDS CHURCH WAS HEAVILY INVOLVED IN AIDING THE VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KATRINA. MEN AND WOMEN FROM NEAR BY CHURCHES AND BRANCHES WOULD VOLUNTEER THERE TIME TO HELP REBUILD THE LIVES OF MANY HEART BROKEN PEOPLE. THERE ARE, GIVE OR TAKE, 53,000 MISSIONARIES IN THE WORLD SERVING TODAY. ALL OF THEIR SERVICE IS TO HELP THOSE WHO ARE NOT MORMON. THE PROPHET JOSEPH SMITH TAUGHT THAT WE ARE "TO FEED THE HUNGRY, CLOTH THE NAKED, TO PROVIDE FOR THE WIDOW, TO DRY UP THE TEAR OF THE ORPHAN, TO COMFORT THE AFFLICTED, WEATHER IN THIS CHURCH (LDS), OR ANY OTHER, OR IN NO CHURCH AT ALL." SO DO WE HELP OTHERS? ABSOLUTELY! AND WE HAVE FUN WHILE DOING SO. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Kyle Leavitt
FAITH IS LIKE A MUSCLE, THE MORE YOU EXERSIZE IT THE STRONGER IT GETS. IF YOU WANT TO BUILD FAITH IN ANY ASPECT OTF THE GOSPEL YOU GOTTA START WITH THE BASICS. THIS CONSISTS OF SEARCHING, PONDERING AND PRAYING. TO STRENGTHEN OUR FAITH IN CHRIST WE NEED TO READ HIS WORDS. YOU CANT LEARN ABOUT A CERTIAN TOPIC OR SUBJECT IF ALL YOU DO IS ASK OTHERS AND NOT GO STAIGHT TO THE SORCE. THE SCRIPTURES ARE SO IMPORTANT WHEN WE READ FROM THEM WE FIND ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS, SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS, AND OVER ALL SPIRITUAL GUIDENCE. ONE OF THE MANY WAYS GOD TALKS TO US IS THROGH THE BOOK OF MORMON. PONDERING IS KEY TO EVERYTHING. HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO UNDERSTAND GODS WORD AND GUIDENCE IF YOU JUST BREEZE THROUGH IT. CHRIST WAS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF PATIENTS. EVERYTHING HE DID WAS SLOW AND METHODICAL. SO WHEN WE READ GODS WORD WE NEED TO SOAK IT IN AND LISTEN WITH OUR EARS AND HEART. LAST OF ALL TO BUILD MORE FAITH YOU HAVE TO PRAY. WHEN YOU PRAY ITS LIKE A RECOOPERATION PERIOD FOR YOUR FAITH MUSCLE. WE PRAY TO GET AN AFFIRMATION OF WHAT WE READ AND FELT THROUGH THE OTHER STEPS. GOD WILL ONLY TELL US THE TRUTH ALWAYS, SO WHY NOT ASK HIM AND TALK WITH HIM. THIS IS BASICALY AN ON GOIUNG CYLCE. THE MORE WE DO IT THE STRONGER OUR FAITH WILL BECOME. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Kyle Leavitt
THE REASON MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATERDAY SAINTS DONT DRINK COFFEE TEA OR ALCOHOL IS BECAUSE GOD COMANDS US NOT TO. BACK IN THE EIGHTEENHUNDREDS THE PROPHET JOSEPH SMITH RECIEVED REVELATION FROM GOD WHICH WAS GIVEN TOO HELP US KEEP OUR BODIES HEALTHY AND STRONG. THIS REVELATION IS CALLED THE WORD OF WISDOM. THE WORD OF WISDOM PROMISES, TO ALL THOSE THAT FOLLOW IT, THAT "THE DESTROYING ANGEL SHALL PASS BY THEM, AS THE CHILDREN OF ISREAL, AND NOT SLAY THEM". IN TODAYS WORLD WE CAN SEE THAT PROMISE FULLFILLED ALL THE TIME. SCIENCE HAS PROVEN THAT THE SUBSTANCES IN COFFEE AND TEA ARE NOT GOOD FOR THE BODY AND CAN BECOME EXTREEMLY ADDICTIVE. ALSO AS SEEN WITH ALCOHOL IT CAN DESTROY PEOPLE PHYSICALY AND MENTALY, INCLUDING AROUND THE PERSON WHO USES IT TOO. ILLEGAL DRUGS ARE JUST THAT, ILLEGAL. SO WHY EVEN IF THE WORLD SAYS ITS BAD FOR YOU WOULD YOU EVEN NEED TO QUESTION IT WHEN GOD SAYS SO? AS WE FOLLOW THE WORD OF WISDOM WE BECOME FREE. OUR BODIES GROW AND STRENGTHEN THEMSELVES FAR BEYOND THAT OF WHATEVER "HELP" THESE SUBSTANCES CAN GIVE. AS WE EAT HEATHLY FOODS AND DO ALL THINGS IN MODERATION, GOD BLESSES US. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Kyle Leavitt
I know that Christ appeared in the Americas after his resurrection. The reason i know this is because i have read it in The Book Of Mormon [3 NEPHI CHAPTER 11-27]. Not only have i read it i have prayed about it as well. Through my prayers, God, our heavenly father, gave me an answer. It came through the Holy Ghost to my heart. And i know that if anyone reads The Book Of Mormon , specifically 3 NEPHI CHAPTERS 11-27, and asks God if Christ did come to the Americas and if The Book of Mormon is true God will reveal it to them as well. What is faith?

Kyle Leavitt
Faith is the most basic principle of everything. In fact Faith is used in a lot more than just religion, ask any farmer, any parent, and especially any child. In our youth we have faith in alot of things, Santa Clause, that the sun will come up, and most of all in our parents. As we grow older our faith gets tested, trials come and we see what we are made of. My favorite thing to compare faith to is a muscle. Faith has to be exercised or else it wont grow. We as human beings constantly have a need to have faith in something or some one, its how we work. That is why we look up to others or have role models, we hope to be like them or be similar to them some day. This is also the same reason for why we have faith in Christ. When we have faith in Christ we trust him. We look up to him. Most of all we rely on him. Without faith there would be no hope. No hope for a better tomorrow and not even a sliver of hope that we could change. Life would be totally sad, but as we have faith we can trust and rely on promises God has made. Promises like families being together forever, of one day being perfect and not feeling guilty about our mistakes, and most of all that He love us and wants the best for us. As we find, build and strengthen our personal faith and hope we become happier and closer to Heavenly Father, and who wouldn't want that? Show more Show less
