Hi I'm Tyler

I was born and raised in Colorado. I love my family and friends. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I love music, sports, reading, and learning. I play guitar, I stick with mostly acoustic style stuff but have been known to drift into the electric genres. I listen to pretty much anything that sounds good though. I play hockey. I also play basketball. I love to study and learn new things. I enjoy the history of cultures and peoples of all kinds. Knowledge, to me, is one of the most important things because you take it wherever you go. Your mind is pretty much the only thing that cannot be invaded or taken away. I have graduated high school and plan to attend college after serving a two year mission for our church. I love the outdoors. I feel free when away from all the commotion of life. Camping, fishing, biking, hiking, I love it all. I love my family. They are the most important people in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into this church, I feel like I was not fully able to understand it and accept completely on my own during the bigger portion in my youth. I was always leaning on the faith of my family and friends. It wasn't until later in my teenage years that I came to feel of the love and compassion that God has for me and all His children. I started to study from the scriptures and pray, sincerely asking for help to feel of the truthfulness, believing that I would recieve an answer. I find it easier to get through the struggles of life knowing that, through Christ, we can be cleansed of our sins. If we come unto Christ, having faith in Him and His Atoning Sacrifice, and sincerely follow in His footsteps, then we can live with Him again. I find happiness in this Gospel and I would shout to all the ends of the earth and share the knowledge of happiness with the world. I know that if we follow His Gospel and have faith then we will be truely happy. However, as it is said in the scriptures faith without works is dead. I truly love this Gospel and the blessings I recieve from following His ways. I would not have it any other way.

How I live my faith

I live my faith anyway I can. I attend church meetings every Sunday. I study the teachings of Christ while He was on the Earth. I try to live the example that Jesus Christ taught all people to follow. I have had the opportunity to serve a two year mission and I have personally gained such an extraordinary testimony of the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love doing all that I can to help others and to show my faith through example and service.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Tyler
While Jesus Christ lived on the earth, He taught His Apostles and many other righteous people. He organized His Gospel on the earth and, through God's power and authority, His Apostles and righteous followers contiued to carry the work forward. Eventually, the Apostles and followers were murdered for what they believed. Soon the Lord took His Gospel and the priesthood authority, or ability to act in God's name, from off the earth. This lead to a time of confusion and religeous chaos. Because of the love that our Father in Heaven has for all His Children, He gave us the opportunity to, once again, recieve all the blessings that God has for us, as well as have the fullness and complete Gospel of Jesus Christ. As the Apostles of the New Testament prophesied, of the falling away of His Church; the Apostle Peter foretold of the "restitution of all things" before the Second Coming of Christ (Acts 3:19-24). Peter, referring to all teachings of Christ's ministry, prophesied, through revelation from God, the fulfillment of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In today's society the truths of God have been revealed countless times. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Tyler
No, none of the members of this church are required to serve a mission. However, it is an incredible opportunity to go out and spend 100% of two years out of your life serving the Lord and teaching the world of His truth. We are encouraged by our Prophet through revalation given to him, that every worthy able young man should serve. There is always a way to serve, even if you are not able to serve a full-time mission. The church gives members the opportunity to serve a part-time mission, which allows those who cannot serve a full-time mission, to stay in-state and serve in ways like working in church affairs or in the temple. I believe it is a great blessing to be able to serve and I will serve in anyway asked of me. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Tyler
Families are the most important social units in this life. Through loving, respecting, teaching, and lifting up when faced with challenges, our families will be strengthened. As we journey through life our families are the number one source of peace and happiness. When we create a family established upon a firm foundation of the gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ then we will more easily find protection and peace from the growing dangers of the world. Knowing that God has a plan for us and that we can be together as a family for eternity gives me, personally, such great happiness. Through living the gospel of Jesus Christ, my family has found greater peace and happiness. We are very close to each other and know that when difficulty comes, we caan rely on each other no matter what. Show more Show less
