Hi I'm Dan Jarvis

I was born in Mesa, AZ. I enjoy camping, fishing, and metal detecting. I have been a scout leader for 40 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 10 children, and a grandfather of 39 grandchildren. Like many I struggle with being overweight and bald. Even though I am over 60 I feel like a 12 year old boy scout. I really enjoy going camping and exploring interesting places. Even though rock hopping along a creek or stream is not easy I still enjoy disappearing into a canyon with a backpack on my back. Ten years of metal detecting has been very entertaining. Even though I have not found any large cache of gold I still hope to find some unusual treasure. I speak Spanish, and I have a deep love for people from Mexico and other South American countries. I love giving service to others around me. I am a retired telephone man, and I currently work as a computer equipment repairman. I enjoy gardening, rock collecting, and fossil hunting. There never seems to be enough time for all the things I want to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a fifth generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a young boy most of my close friends were members of my Church, but my beliefs were based on my parents and years of tradition. It was not until after I decided to serve as a missionary for my Church that I began to have powerful spiritual experiences. Since then I have had countless experiences which have given me a personal conviction that I am a member of the Lord's Church on this earth. Even though my membership in the Church is solid and firm, I have been blessed by the friendship of many great and spiritual people from other faiths. The Holy Ghost has born witness to me many times that the spiritual teachings I believe in and follow are the Lord's will for me. There is no doubt in my mind and heart that I am a member of the Lord's Church. If required I would be willing to bet my temporal and spiritual life on this belief.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve as an adult scout leader for 40 years. I enjoy working with young men, and I receive much personal satisfaction in helping them become obedient and great sons of God. I have been given a gift of organizing large events such as family reunions or scout camps. I recognize this gift as being from God, and I am grateful for the priveledge of serving His children here on earth. I look forward to using all the talents or abilities I have in serving my Father in Heaven. The Spirit of God has revealed to me in a very powerful way that Jesus Christ lives, and He is returning again to earth very soon. Of this important message I bear witness to the world with all my heart and soul.
