Hi I'm Summer Romney

I'm a student at Brigham Young University. I report to the Provo MTC this August to serve a full-time mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Any place I can be creative is a place I want to be. When I'm not working, my main interests are fictional writing and making music. My main instrument is the viola, but I am slowly learning the piano. I attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where I will study psychology after my full-time mission. I know that we have a Heavenly Father and that His gospel is on the Earth today. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet selected to restore the Gospel to this Earth. I know that even though I am not perfect, I have a perfect Father in Heaven who loves me unconditionally and sent His Son to die for our sins. I never doubt that love. That love is what gets me out of bed in the morning and gets me through each and every day.

Why I am a Mormon

There is no way I could be anything but a Mormon. The Gospel has blessed my life in so many different ways and so many miraculous ways that I could never deny or leave it. My testimony is too strong to be anything else. The Gospel brings so much light and happiness into my life that I would not have if I were not a Mormon. I have lived a life where I was distanced from the Spirit, and it was not a good time in my life. I was still blessed because I kept my standards, but I was not feeling that happy spirit the Gospel gives me. I became sad and angry. Until I started to regain my relationship with the Spirit, my life was quite dark. But the moment I let the Spirit back in, I felt that light come back into my life.

How I live my faith

At the end of this summer, I will begin my full-time mission in Louisiana. As I prepare for my mission, I have been paying more attention to how I live my faith and how I show it. Right now, I show it by always being happy. At work I try my best to be happy, and usually I don't even have to try. My faith in Christ and Heavenly Father make me happy because I know that things may not seem ideal now, but by doing the things I should and going on a mission, I will be blessed beyond belief. Having that faith and living that faith makes me happy and makes me want to continue to keep my standards. I also try to participate in my ward as much as I can. Sometimes I do not want to, but I do and I am always blessed and made happy by doing the things I should. I have a hard time reading my scriptures, but every time I do, my faith is increased, as is my happiness. Then in turn, that happiness is portrayed and people see that I am happy and that I have faith.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Summer Romney
Death is a natural part of Heavenly Father's plan for us. Through the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, our physical bodies will die, but our spiritual bodies will go to the spirit world, where we, and our loved ones, continue to learn. Without the Atonement, we would not be able to enjoy this next step in the Plan. Eventually, our spirit bodies and our physical bodies will be reunited permanently through a change called resurrection. What seems like the end, is only the beginning. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Summer Romney
Yes, we do regard the Bible as Holy Scripture from God. We believe that the prophets were chosen of God to write and record the histories and doctrines for a purpose as inspired by the Holy Spirit. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be another record written in the same manner as the Bible. The Book of Mormon supports the teachings and doctrines of the Bible. Show more Show less
