Hi I'm Emily

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Mormon Mom! I have four beautiful children, 9, 7, 4, and 1 month. They are the joys of my life! I'm the typical busy mom, shuffling kids from music, football, soccer, baseball, basketball- you name it we've been there! So of course I own a mini-van (a continuously dirty one!) I am a fan of music. I play the piano and have been a piano teacher for 15 years now. My most difficult challenge is teaching my own children...ahhh! I also play the cello and try to break it out as often as I can. One of my favorite things to do is accompany my husband and his gorgeous voice on the piano or cello. My hobbies also include doing puzzles (only when I have serious down time like at a family reunion with my amazing sisters), reading when I get a break, decorating/shopping for home decor :), and currently going to my son's football games. I actually also like vacuuming...I might as well include that as a hobby. My favorite place to go is the beach- especially Rocky Point, Mexico. Blissful relaxation!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon, but that's not why I'm a Mormon. Although I leaned on my parents' faith growing up, I was taught to gain my own testimony. When I was 10, my parents took us back East on a Church history tour. While in the Sacred Grove, they told each of us 6 kids to find a quiet spot and pray. I did just that and knew without a shadow of a doubt that the church is true. And over the next 21 years, I have had continuous experience that have strengthened my faith and proved to me that there is a God in heaven who loves me and cares about me. I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel & the President Monson leads the church today. Today is general conference and I am so excited to hear from prophets of the Lord.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed to always have a chance to serve in our church. For 4 of the past 6 years I've been able to work with the youth in our church, namely the 14 & 15 year old girls. They are the best! It's amazing to see the struggles they face each day in this challenging time and how they overcome them. I also have loved being in many music callings. I was able to lead our church choir for 2 1/2 years....a wonderful way to build my testimony. Music makes me feel the spirit & grow closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. One of the beauties of this church is knowing that the Lord knows, and calls you to serve in the exact place you need to be in your life right then. Giving of our free time to help the church-and even the community as well- is such a testimony builder.
