Hi I'm Allison

I'm an Arizona native. I love cooking. I chose to be a wife and mother instead of going to law school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home mom of a rambunctious 2 1/2 year old boy and a smiley, curious 11 month old girl! I love my job! I especially enjoy cooking for my family and trying new recipes. I enjoy running and sewing as well. In August 2013, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Through the whole experience, I have felt God's love and Jesus Christ's arms around me. Heavenly Father has heard and answered my prayers and the prayers that have been said on my behalf. Although this was a hard blow for me and my family, we are comforted in knowing that regardless of what happens, we are sealed together for eternity as a family as long as we try our best to live righteously. I know that the Holy Spirit guides us and helps us in our lives. I have felt promptings to seek a second opinion, and, as a result, have found a treatment plan that feels right for me and my family. I have received a confirmation from the Spirit that the second opinion I sought was the correct path to take. Living with cancer is hard. I've only done it for 2 months now, but it feels like it has been years. I am grateful for the perspective that the gospel offers me.

Why I am a Mormon

I started out a Mormon because I was born to parents that were both Mormons, but that is not the reason I am still a Mormon. In my youth, I attended services of other faiths, but never felt the Holy Spirit present at other meetings. I first read the Book of Mormon for myself as a teenager. At the end of the Book of Mormon, Moroni challenges readers to pray and ask God if what they have read is true. When I prayed as Moroni suggests, I had a burning feeling in my heart from the Holy Spirit that the book was true and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was His church. I know that Joseph Smith saw God and Jesus Christ. I know that God has given us a prophet today to guide us. I know that we are children of God and that he wants to be able to return to live with Him again. Because of this, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us and atone for our sins. I am grateful that I have such a loving Heavenly Father who has given me a way to return to Him.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite callings in the church was teaching the 12-14 year olds about the New Testament. My class consisted of about 7 or 8 boys and 1 girl. Every week I looked forward to preparing a lesson about the life of our Savior that would touch the hearts of my class. I wanted to ensure that when each of them went home, they remembered something about what we had discussed that day. I have also taught lessons for my peers, lead the women's organization, and organized events for my church.
