Hi I'm Meghan

I'm a wife, a performer, a former Missionary in the England London South Mission, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello, my name is Meghan and I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission for the church in the England London South Mission. I have one younger brother. My brother and I were both born and raised in the church. My parents have been married/sealed for over 25 years now and I have two pets (a dog and a cat). I married my wonderful husband in July and I'm currently studying Video Production at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I really love the performing arts. I enjoy singing, acting, playing the piano, and playing the Ukulele. Having lived in Colorado, I also really enjoy hiking. Especially in the mountains. I love life and I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for me next.

Why I am a Mormon

It's funny, I used to think choosing to be a member of the church would come from one significant event in my life but the truth is I choose to be a Mormon every day because of my everyday experiences. I chose to be baptised when I was 8 years old and my testimony was so small. I just knew small basics, like God was there and that the Holy Ghost confirmed to me when I was baptised that I was doing the right thing. But as I've gone through life it's been the little things each and every day that have confirmed to me that this is true. Whether it was a scripture I read, a lesson in seminary or church, a beautiful song, or really anything good in my life, it has helped me to know this path is good, and this is Christ's way for everyone. On my mission I've come to know that true conversion comes from trying to build our testimony everyday. I've seen the differences between living the guidelines from Heavenly Father and not living them. I testify that because of these experiences I now can say I know this is Christ's church restored again on the Earth. I know that God lives and that he has a plan for us. I know Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet of God and he translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God. Through this Book we can find answers to our questions. If we want Heavenly Father to speak to us, we read his word. "... by small and simple things are great things brought to pass". I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it is true, I know it is true, and I can not deny it.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings in the church especially with the Young Women and anything involving playing the piano. I love volunteering in service projects such as Colorado cares day (a day where the members of the church in my state go out and do organized service in parks, preserves, reservoirs, etc.). I attend church every Sunday and I also attend the LDS temple as frequently as possible. When I'm up at college I will usually attend the temple once a week because up there the temple is within walking distance from campus. I read my scriptures and say my prayers everyday which helps bring me closer to my Heavenly Father and gives me the strength I need to get through the day. Now that I'm on my mission I have been given the chance to invite others to learn about the church and act as a represenative of Jesus Christ. What a blessing it is to take 18 months of my life to focus only on the gospel and the needs of others every hour of every day.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Meghan
Yes of course! We do regard the Holy Bible as the word of God. After all, the name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Holy Bible contains many of Jesus Christ's teachings and we highly treasure it as scripture. However, we do understand that the Bible has undergone many translations over the years and we see that many truths have been lost. This is why we regard The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price as scripture along side the Holy Bible. These books, especially The Book of Mormon, help us understand truths of the Bible that were previously lost. All of our scripture is written by apostles and prophets who were called of God to teach his words which makes all of these writings very sacred and precious to mankind. By reading these books we can come closer to God and better understand his plan and his love for us. Show more Show less
