Hi I'm Mary

We have been Married 43 years. We have 5 Children and 15 grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Starting out as students, we crossed the plains going east in an old station wagon. We were going for a Dr. Degree in Wisconsin; UW Madison. We were from places with less than lived in our Married Student Housing. When my husband said that he wanted to get a Dr. Degree I said, "What's that?" "More schooling," he said. "How long will it take," I wanted to know. "Five years," He thought. "Well I can take anything for 5 years." Little did I know. We have not moved back home since. We have lived in the North, South, East and West of this great country. We even took a sabatical leave to Tokashima Japan. There are great friends from every one of these places. We were able to feel right at home by going to church and meeting all the local people. People who had made the same promises as we had.

Why I am a Mormon

Has 43 years always been easy. No! We have had our lean times and fat, sad and happy, and cold and warm. We committed in the beginning to make a covenent of marriage and stick by it. We have had to have councling and taken marriage classes and try to read a book every year togeather to get us to be able to laugh at ourselves and not to jump off the band wagon. But most of all we pray togeather every night and morning holding hands. God has provided a way for us to succeed.

How I live my faith

We thought we wanted to go back to Japan on a mission. But the Stake Pres. called us to be Storehouse Managers. We meet great people every day there. People who want to serve the Lord are great arn't they?

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

I like to think of Grace as the 'tender mercies of the Lord.' We will always be in God's dept because he continually blesses for any good that we do. If he loves us so much now. I am sure he will love us as we come closer to him and are saved in his presence. All the Father has he has given the Savior and he wants to give it to us. Mostly, I think he wants to give us peace and happyness. He does this by saying, Be Baptised and recieve the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

It is fun working in the Bishops Storehouse where food is distributed every day; free. Well it is not really free. The patrians work at the store house, at the church, or in the community, and recieve food in exchange. Work is a saving principle of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you are not afraid of work please volunteer at the Storehouse. Show more Show less
