Hi I'm Courtney Terry

I live in Arizona. I'm a hairstylist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest out of four children in my family. I have an older brother and two sisters. I love them with all of my heart! They are the ones who help to teach and guide me throughout my life here on earth! The other two people who are most important in my life are my mom and dad. They have taught me almost everything I know! I admire them so much, I don't think they realize how much each little thing that they do inspires me. As a family, we love to go hunting, fishing, camping, etc. We are a very outdoorsy type of family. We love to be outside, no matter the weather. I just recently graduated from a cosmetology school. I am so in love with the oportunity to make someone's day or even life wonderful. It is by far the best thing I have done so far in my life. I absolutely love it! I now work at an upscale salon, that is closed on sundays, because I chose to look for a place that would suit me and my choices. Again, my family is very important to me and so are the choices I make in this life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it is the only true church that exists today. I know this church is true and I will always and forever be a member. I was raised in this church along with all of my silings. Before last July I never really understood the true meaning of the church. I had a challenge from my Young Womens leaders to read the Book of Mormon by december of that year and they would reward us for our hard work. I began to read and at the beginning it was really hard to make it a habit, but by the end of August I had it down and I was able to finish it before the deadline. When I read the Book of Mormon for the first time I finally found out for myself what this church is all about. A book that I am reading states that the underlining guidline to live a Christ-like life, is all about loving others and treating others the way you should. I think that everyone finds this hard to do. I Know that I do at times. I try my hardest to live a Christ-like life and to love everyone. I am a member of this church because I know it is true and because I have prayed about it and recieved the conformation that is it. I belive that Joseph Smith was the prophet who restored this Gospel on the earth so that it could be here today for us to know and learn. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet today that leads and guides us in every way. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My calling in the church right now is Primary teaching CTR5, children age 5 who are turning 6 this year. I am so in love with these little kids. Not only am I teaching them, they teach me so much when it comes to the first class of the day, Primary. In Primary we sing beautiful songs and learn fun stories that are related to things that can happen today. The little kids are singing every word and if they dont know the words, they are hummng right along. Hearing these children sing the words "I am a child of God, rich blessings are in store" tells me that they truly are learning the Gospel at their age, just in a simplified way. I get to be one of the tools used to teach these kids from their young age to the adult they will soon be. I am also doing service through the church. Like I said earlier, I do hair. I have been doing hair for people in my ward and some elderly people that I know in my area. It has blessed my life in so many ways. I have met new people, as well as getting to know and hearing stories from people that I aleady know. I have learned so many things, not only about the church, but also about other beliefs, things of the world and things that are important in life. One of my favorite ways to serve is around the time of Thanksgiving, the Youth of our church go to a lower income area of town. As a group, we paint houses and clean up yards for families who are not able to do so by themselves. We are able to give each home a new bench to sit outside on their front porch and a turkey for Thanksgiving Day. I have always had so much fun when this service project comes around. This is the highlight of my year. I love to see the faces of the people that I have helped throughout my life. The smiles that I get to see and the encouragement I can give to these people. Service is one of the best things that we can do in this life. It not only benefits te people it is done for, but the one who is doing the sevice as well.
