Hi I'm June

I grew up in England but now live in Brisbane, Australia. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I became a single parent while my children were very young. The challenge of supporting a family was very real. My strength came from my testimony of the gospel. I took the opportunity to go to university for 4 years to get my teaching degree while working part time jobs to support my family. There were many challenges along the way but the blessing also came. I not only have the blessing of having a career that I love but also had the ability to take care of my family which was very important to me. I love learning new things and enjoy such things as abseiling, hiking, exercise or just taking time to be in the outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church. I joined the church when I was 18, after two years of searching other religions without finding the answers to some very fundatmental questions. Then the missionaries came to my families home and for the first time my mother let them in to share their message. On that very first visit I knew that I had found what I had been searching for, I felt a strong warm feeling within which I later came to know as the influence of the spirit in my life. For three months I attended church each Sunday and as I did so my own personal testimony of the gospel began to grow. Then I was baptised and became a member of a tiny Branch in my home town . Eight years later I had the priviledge of serving a full time mission in the England Manchester Mission and sharing the gospel with others. Many years have past and I have raised my own family and now live in Brisbane Australia. Challenges have come and gone but the gospel has remained the constant guiding light in my life and that of my family.

How I live my faith

I work full time as a deputy principal of a Primary school. I have a great love of education and the importance of it in each persons life. I currently serve as the President of the womens organisation in my ward and am humbled by the opportunity that it gives me to give service. Living my faith is a daily thing. I am grateful for the guiding principles of the gospel that strengthen my faith. The opportunity to live each day to its full is a priviledge and knowing that Heavenly Father is there as our guide makes the challenges of life easier to overcome.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Helping each other is integral part of my faith. The commandment to love our neighbours is something we need to strive to do each day. In January this year we had the floods in Brisbane. So many lives were effected and homes destroyed. To be able to offer help in any capacity we could to anyone was a humbling expereince. To be part of thousands of Queenslanders stepping out into their neighbourhoods cleaning up homes, shoveling mud and removing debris was a unique example of what caring for our neigbours really means.
