Hi I'm Kelly

I like to run (XC forever!!!), I love to the play the piano, and I'm now serving my mission. Why? Because I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm 18 years old. I grew up in a Mormon family, although my brother fell away. And I definitely don't have the perfect family, we have our fair share of struggles. I'm the 4th child of 5. Throughout the years I've done long distance track and Cross Country because I'm a weirdo who loves running!! I've also had my fair share of accidents; I could have died 2 times: a really bad car crash and getting impaled by a tree. And while I may have been #32 of 783 students, I am not that smart. I definitely have a lot of help from others who are around me.

Why I am a Mormon

Well I was born into the covenant (my parent are Mormon). When i was younger, I went just because my parents told me I had to. I still felt that way all until last year. When i started going to seminary, everything changed. We were reading the Doctrine and Covenants, and it hit me. I didn't have a testimony, i was going along with the flow. But the D&C related to me, it told me specific knowledge that helped me develop who I am today. Last year, we went to the temple open house, and I was awe struck. The celestial room filled me with such peace, I never wanted to leave that place. From that experience, I have gained a testimony of the divinity of the temple. Then one of the motives behind my belief in The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints, was when I was hung up on a mountain. My arm was impaled by a tree. I know without my leaders, I wouldn't have made it back home. Then when I think about it, I know that angels were around me as I made that 2 hour descent down the mountain, to go to the ER. It confirmed my testimony that I have a purpose to fulfill before I return to my Father in heaven.

How I live my faith

I'm serving my mission for the Lord, Jesus Christ. I know that this what He wants me to do because I have felt His influence multiple times. It isn't easy living my life behind (friends, family, education, etc and so forth) for 2 years. It really isn't. But I know that this is where I'm supposed to be; I have a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and that is why I am out here!

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Kelly
Yes, I know without a doubt that He did appear to his disciples in the ancient America. Whenever I read the section about his ministry to the people of Nephi, I feel the Holy Ghost whispers that what I read is true. There is a song that I listen to all the time for this reason. It is by Rob Gardner, in his album He is Jesus Christ. The song He is Jesus Christ, confirms that He did show himself unto the Nephites. The song talks about when they saw the nail prints in His hands and feet, and the wound within His side. Almost every time I listen to the song, I cry, knowing that He is my Redeemer. I know that He visited them in the Americas, giving them the priesthood power. I know that it is through Him that mankind can be saved. Show more Show less
