Hi I'm Bill

I am married and have nine children. I like to play chess, solve problems, and serve people, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of nine children and grandfather of two grandsons, whom I love dearly. My wife and I live in the country on nine acres with two of our children , a horse, two dogs, numerous birds and fish. I am a chemical engineer and work at a pharmaceutical company. I enjoy playing chess, solving problems, and providing service to others. I've traveled to France, Germany, Sweden, and Canada.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because I am family oriented and was impressed with the emphasis the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints places on families. We believe families can be together for eternity. We are encouraged to be the best we can be and love and serve others. Several years back we were encouraged to travel to help Katrina victims by our Church leaders. So I traveled with one of my black guardian sons and about ten other members of our ward from Beech Grove, Indiana to Louisiana. For three days we used our chainsaws to help cut up trees and we helped removed debris for numerous families in Louisiana. There were hundreds of other members there doing the same thing. We worked hard, enjoyed meeting people, and my guardian son and I built a lasting loving memory together. I have had several other experiences serving, growing in the Church, and attending the temple with my children.

How I live my faith

I enjoy home teaching. I, along with another elder in our church visit five families each month. I have been home teaching for 32 years and it has been an extremely valuable experience. We get to know families, teach them lessons, and assist and serve them as needs arise. It has helped me grow from a shy young man to an more outgoing person. We utilize our priesthood and give others blessings and serve in the Lord's vineyard. Over the years, the Lord has helped me grow while serving others and my faith has grown. My current calling is Ward Mission Leader. I have further to grow in this calling. Having come from shy roots and being a task oriented engineer makes being an outgoing mission leader a bit of a challenge for me. But that is the way the Lord works. When he wants us to develop further, he provides the way. I work with others in the Church to see how we can help share the Gospel with our friends and encourage people to come to Church. I find that my motivation comes from the desire to help others find what I have. I have found that loving and serving others through Christ, makes me happier. I want others to experience that happiness and prepare themselves and their families to return to our Heavenly Father and live together forever. I find that all of us have trials, struggles, and setbacks, but the Lord helps us find our way.
