Hi I'm Bridgette

I'm a nurse and a runner. I love music, food and being outside. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town but now live in a large city and so I have a fond appreciation for both ways of life. I love being outside and love the different seasons, especially the vibrant colors of fall. I have a great interest in both music and food, but am less skilled at producing either of these than I am at enjoying them. I find reading and traveling to be the two most enjoyable ways to learn new things and broaden my perspective. I have become a runner and will run in the summer or the winter, the sunshine or the rain. Running is a time for me to think and to process the rest of my life. I recently completed my first marathon, and did it in the company of my brother and my mom who were also running their first marathon. I'm a critical care nurse and love being able to do some small part to help people in some of the worst times of their lives. I am always amazed at those people who meet these types of challenges with optimism and hope, and I have learned and gained more from my patients than I will probably ever be able to give back.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the most important thing in my life, and I attribute everything good in my life as being a direct result of this gospel. It just makes sense. It holds all the answers for the hard questions in life, including where we came from, what the purpose of life is and what happens after we die. I have received many personal witnesses, mostly in small ways, throughout my life that have testified to me that Jesus Christ lives and that this is His true church on the earth. I actually don't remember a time in my life when I didn't have this knowledge to some degree. It has been a stabilizing and compelling influence in my life and has brought me great peace and joy.

How I live my faith

I try to fill each day with the things that will bring me closer to Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father and help me to know them better. My hope is that this will also help me, through process of time, to become more like them. Prayer, scripture study and caring for others are a big part of this process for me, and while I still have a long way to go, I know that the effort is worth any small progress I make. I was recently married in the temple, this required both my husband and I to live our lives according to the standards established by Christ for his church. These standards include strict chastity before marriage, not drinking alcohol or smoking, active participation in the church, serving others, paying 10% of our income to the church as tithing and more. None of these were new guideline for either of us, they were things we had already been doing for our entire lives, and they are standards I will continue to live by because I love my Savior and want to follow the things he has taught me to do.
