Hi I'm Jessa

I am a chocolate-loving, book-reading, pizza-consuming, beach-seeking, craft-creating, jewelry-creating mama! And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a chocolate-loving, book-reading, pizza-consuming, church-going, accessory-wearing, craft-creating, beach-seeking, forever-organizing, jewelry-making-mama! I love to be with my Hawaiian hubby and spend my days kissing on our amazing daughter. I recently graduated with my degree in English and am putting it to good use haha in staying home with my daughter. Becoming a mom was something that was altogether challenging, overwhelming, and frightening. But I have enjoyed the journey and found that it has helped shape me into the person that I am supposed to be. I love her so much and each day is a joy. Family has come to be the most important thing to me and I am so grateful that I get to spend all of this life and the next with the loves of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Being born into the LDS church was not something that was a choice. Continuing to live my life in accordance with its precepts is. I think I have chosen varying reasons for doing so throughout my life. Sometimes it was blind faith, obedience, a good feeling, and most recently, because of an assurance of the happiness it brings me. I truly know that I am watched over, loved, and protected by a Heavenly Father who wants the best for me. I know that I want my daughter to know these same things. Being part of the LDS church is so much more than a religion to me. It is my way of life...it is life. Because of Jesus Christ, I can be strengthened when weak, uplifted when downtrodden, and comforted when lonely. My mistakes allow me to grow because of His sacrifice and I owe it to Him in the way I live my life to show my appreciation and devotion.

How I live my faith

I currently am serving in the LDS church in several ways. I am responsible for a committee that plans activities to meet the needs of the women in our ward. This is so fun and humbling! We get to have enriching discussions, learn new skills, perform service, and be strengthened by one another. I also go each week to a place called the Missionary Training Center where I help new missionaries from our church learn how to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. They then leave their families for two years so that others may be blessed by the message they share. I participate in Family Search Indexing online. This is a great activity because it is something that can be done while watching TV and it hardly feels like work but performs a great service. Check it out! And the best calling, of course, is being a mother and raising my daughter to know that her faith in a loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ is the most important thing she can have.
