Hi I'm Robert

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as Mormons.

About Me

I am a father of 2, married to the greatest girl in the world. I enjoy basketball, running, and soccer, along with any type of strategy game. I work with numbers and analytics and am pursuing to become an actuary. I have an obsession with potatoes, and sometimes cheese (sharp cheddar of course). My wife and I see having season tickets to the Phoenix Suns and having a dog as about the same proportionate value, and surprisingly they cost about the same too...well, maybe not courtside.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this Church because of a few reasons. The service and support I have received, and also had the opportunity to give, is incredible. Every member of this church watches after one another, not just to see if spiritually and physical needs are met, but that we are fulfilling our potential. Every class, every discussion and talk, every visit and article (and boy are there a lot) try to help and encourage to be our best. I don't know where I'd be without this support and all these opportunities. Another major reason I am a Mormon is because of the deep spiritual feasts that the doctrines of Jesus Christ provide. I know who I am. I know the purposes of life and an understanding of why things are they way they are. I have been taught ho to find true happiness, how to overcome sin and temptation, how to be a better father and husband. I know who Heavenly Father is and who Jesus Christ. I know what happens after this life and also what happened before we got here. There are ordinances that must be done, such as baptist and marriage; these actions show God that we are doing what he has asked us to do. He will bless our lives now and after this life. There isn't any relevant, soul searching question that I have not had answered through the gospel of Jesus Christ. It's very satisfying and comforting. The final reason, and most important, reason that I am a member of this Church is that I have felt in my heart that it is true. I have read the Book of Mormon, heard the prophets, and prayed to God and I ha felt a blissful, quite assurance that these things are all the Lords way. Of this I have no doubt.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by who I am I guess. I actively seek for those in need, those who are struggling, and see if there is any way I can assist them. I have been the recipient of this love and charity and hope that I could in some way give that back to others. It is a blessing to have faith that good things will happen to those who follow the commandments and heed the words of the living prophets. I have faith that even when I mess up, there is a way to overcome, and a Savior who can atone for this things I have done wrong.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Robert
A story was told of 2 friends sitting outside, enjoying a warm summer morning. One man had a delicious, cold glass of orange juice. His friend, a little thirty himself, looked on as the man just sipped away and this cold satisfying beverage. The man finished the orange juice and went inside. The end. If we are with our friends and had something to quench their thirst, of course we wouldn't act like this man, but we would share what we have. Even if we don't know them we would still share something, right? It is the same with the gospel of Jesus Christ. What we have can help others. It would be selfish to keep it to ourselves. We gain nothing by proselyting except helping people come to Christ. Show more Show less
