Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love creating and making things. I craft--beanies, headbands, hair clips, scarves; I bake--desserts are my specialty; I decorate--love to paint, make decorations out of random objects you wouldn't normally consider. I'm a college who's graduating in April and I'm studying sociology. I want to go into social work and focus on juvenile delinquency or domestic violence. I also speak Spanish. I wouldn't say I'm fluent but I can communitcate pretty well. I love it! I also love playing the piano and have been doing so most of my life. I am engaged to my best friend and am getting married in December. I love getting to know people and helping friends and family out whenever I can.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? That's an easy question for me--I am happy when I actively participate in this gospel. I've gone through rough patches in my life when I didn't always adhere to the counsel given by our leaders and during those times, I was very unhappy and really didn't care for myself at all. Following the counsel of the prophets, the scriptures, and the Lord brings so much peace into my life and I know this is the right thing for me to be doing. I love the value that this gospel places on each individual because I know everybody is important, whether they hate themselves, have committed unthinkable acts, or simply feel they have no purpose. Everybody matters and everyone is cared for. Everyone is important. And I know that no matter how happy you think you are, this gospel can only add more joy. The Savior sacrificed His life for all of us to make that possible. I know that no matter what point you are at in your life, whether you are depressed and alone or whether you are at the prime of your life, the Savior is Someone you need. He can make the happy times even better and He can help you through times when you feel like you will never make it out alive. All you have to do is put your faith in Him and He will lift you up and fill you with peace, joy, and purpose.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is greatly through service. That service includes helping those both in and out of this religion. I volunteer with different groups on my school's campus to better the life of those struggling in our community. I serve in church meetings by playing the piano for hymns and musical numbers whenever it is needed. I try to help those in need whenever I recognize the opportunity. How I live my faith is by going through my day trying to keep my Savior in my thoughts constantly and trying my best to do as He would do. I live my faith by trying to see others (even those I don't especially get along with) as the Savior sees them--with love, understanding, and patience. It's not always easy but when I do it I am happy.
