Hi I'm Scott

I live in Arizona. I have a beautiful wife and 6 amazing kids. I'm a High School seminary teacher. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love to draw, play the trumpet, and teach! My wife and I have been married for 11 years. The first several years of our marriage I worked many odd jobs to put food on the table and shelter over my family's head. When I was a full-time, married, college student I played trumpet in a Civil War Band in a small town in Arizona, worked in a video store, bussed and waited tables at a train depot restaurant, drove a bread truck, was a substitute teacher, and worked at a department store. I look back on those days with fond memories as my little family scraped and struggled to get by. Any job was a good job as long as it was honorable work and paid the bills. I feel those years were a great strength to the health and stability of my marriage. I have a great marriage! I have been teaching full-time for the past 8 years and love to teach teenagers. We have 6 amazing children, three boys and three girls. I served a mission for the LDS church to Russia and love the Russian people. My father was a convert to the Church and my mother has been a member her whole life. It has been a blessing growing up with both perspectives on the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because being a Mormon has brought me so much joy and peace in this life! When I was in Junior High School I was determined to know for myself if the Book of Mormon was scripture from God or if it was a fictional fantasy novel. As I read, pondered, and studied the Book of Mormon I recognized that the truths taught agreed with the teachings of the Savior in the New Testament. I prayed and asked my Father in Heaven about it and I received a sweet, warm, peaceful feeling inside that was Heaven sent. I have received that feeling about the Book of Mormon many times since then and recognize these feelings as a witness from the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true and will lead me back home to my Father in Heaven. This confirmation helped me to love and appreciate the Prophet Joseph Smith and the great work he did in restoring the Church of Jesus Christ, the same Church established by the Master Himself when he lived among men and taught His Everlasting Gospel. These truths I learned as a young teenager have been a great strength to me my entire life. I have had confirmed to me, again and again, that God lives, Jesus is the Christ, and that they love and cherish me. The witness of the Holy Ghost is such a wonderful experience that cannot be duplicated and ,despite man's attempt to imitate it, there is nothing better than the real thing. It is this Spirit to spirit communication that brings me such peace, confidence, and faith in my life. Once recognized for what it is, the Holy Ghost can teach, direct, comfort, and lead us to Christ in powerful ways. I am grateful for this gift God has given His children. He commands us to "Be Still and Know that I am God." I am grateful for those "still" moments in my life that have taught be so much about Him. I am Mormon because it is true, God told me so!

How I live my faith

I am serving as a Priest's Quorum Advisor. This means I get to be with and teach the young men in my Church between the ages of 16 to 18. It is a blast! I have been serving in this capacity for the past 4 years. I home teach some wonderful families. Some are more active in the Church than others. Every family member is amazing and striving to do what is right. I have been teaching seminary full time for the past 8 years. I teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to over 120 kids each day - talk about an awesome job! I have so much faith and confidence in the future when I go to work and get to be with such strong and amazing youth who love God and are eager to do His will.
