Hi I'm Kathy

I am a wife and mum. Family is everything to me. I have been involved in the Scouting Program for many years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a second generation Canadian, of Ukrainian decent. I am a wife and mum of two grown children and a grandmother. My son is a college professor and by daughter is a teacher in the elementary school system. She is recently married with a loving husband, two beautiful step children and a beautiful new infant. I like to paint; sculpt, cook, and bake. For many years I was a part of the Scouting Organization Leadership Team. Scouting is how I met my best friend, my husband. We share a love for the outdoors, camping, hiking, canoeing and foraging. Now we like to travel and take photographs of wildlife. My favourite holiday is Christmas and I love collecting Nativities, some from our travels. I love spending time with my husband and family. At the moment we are renovating our home in preparation for retirement. Life is good!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Presbyterian Faith. A Faith that my grandparents joined upon their arrival into Canada. As a child we attended Church every Sunday and would gather at my grandparents home for dinner afterwards. We were very family oriented. When my grandparents passed away we became special occasion Christians. We lived out in the country which took considerable time to travel into town to church. However my mum always taught me that prayers are answered by God. Not always in the way we want, but He makes sure our needs are met. Time and again I have acted upon the principle of prayer, and my needs have been met. Including the time my newborn daughter was seriously ill. I poured out my heart to God and He answered that prayer, a year and a half later my baby girl was well. My husband and I did not attend church, we met our spiritual needs through Scouting and Service to our community. We believed in God. So we had it covered, or so we thought. When our children were 7 and 11, two young men came into our life and taught us about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Nineteen years ago we were baptized and haven't looked back. We have been blessed in so many ways, Life is good, even when we stumble, we just pick our self up and go forward. Heavenly Father is always there for us. You just have to act upon Faith. I know the Church is true, the scriptures are true. God hasn't forgotten us, Christ Lives. He has blessed my life and my family in so many ways and I am thankful. I have come to know my Savior through the scriptures, by studying and prayer. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

For approximately 30 years I have worked with the youth in my community in various ways through Scouting and the Girl Guide Organization. I have helped in my children's schools on committees, as a trip volunteer. I have taught both the children and adults in my Church. I have helped organize activities such as our Annual Nativity display, through decorating and participating in the choir and also as a contributor to the display. I have helped at Girls Camps. I have also taught the women of our church about the outdoors, in outdoor cooking skills and gathering food from the wild. I have shared my life experiences and the things I have learned along life's path. Every month I visit with some of the ladies in our church, learning from them, and sharing stories and life lessons. Not just attending church as a member of the faith, but becoming a member of a large extended family through these beautiful friendships. Caring for one another. What a great feeling it is to be able to help someone if a need arises, or as a listening ear for advise or comfort.
