Hi I'm Jessica

I'm a fun loving college graduate, wife, mom of 2, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, but moved to Georgia when I was 13. In high school I ran cross country, track and field, and played in the orchestra. I absolutely loved learning about the many different faiths of my friends, and getting to understand their varying cultures. I was one of 3 Mormons in my graduating class. 4 years after graduating high school, I walked across the stage of my university with my husband and 7 month old baby smiling at me. A year later we moved our little family back to Georgia and began life in the "real world." We've added a new addition and I am loving being a stay at home mom!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon on the outside, but I had to choose to be a Mormon on the inside. I was raised in my faith, just as someone who was born to catholic or baptist parents was raised in their own faith. But, like we all do, I had to choose what I wanted to become and believe. For me, that moment came middle school. When my parents told us that we were moving across the country to a completely new place without family or friends, the only thing I knew I would have to cling to was my faith. I prayed to God for a long time, years, to help me find peace with my new life. I prayed that He would comfort me, but most of all, I prayed that He would tell me if I belonged to the right church. Slowly but surely, with lots of prayer and study, I came to know without a doubt, that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. That the prophets and apostles who lead this church are called of God and have His authority and power. I know that I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ, and that He is the head of this church. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and I know that it was translated by the prophet Joseph Smith. I believe in personal revelation, that God speaks to his children on a daily basis. I believe that God will lead and guide me as long as I do what He has asked and follow his laws. I believe in my faith and I believe that I will live with God, Jesus Christ, and my family forever.

How I live my faith

As a lifelong Mormon, I have always been a member in many different wards and stakes. Within those wards I have served in several different callings. Each has taught me new things and helped me better understand the gospel and how I should live it. Currently, I teach the Gospel Doctrine, or sunday school, class. Each week I find myself studying the scriptures so that I may help those in my class to better understand the meaning and principles written there. As a wife and mother, I spend much of my time teaching my boys word of God and who he is. I love to have pictures of Christ and the temples in our home so that the boys learn to recognize Christ. We try to make sure to have prayer with the boys and teach them what it means to be reverent and respectful. I do my best to emulate Christ in everything I do, the way I treat my boys, those around me, and the way I treat myself. Dressing modestly, speaking kind words to others, and doing my best to not judge helps to improve the spirit that I strive to feel every day.

Are Mormons Christians?

Everything I do is about following our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is our Redeemer and our ultimate example. He is the head of this Church and His teachings are the fundamentals of everything we do. Without Christ, and our faith in Him, we would not be able to return to live with our Heavenly Father. I believe in Christ with all of my heart and soul. Show more Show less
