Hi I'm Barbara

I am a wife, a mom of 3 and grandma to 13. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a convert to the church. I am married to the kindest most patient husband in the world, so I feel I am very fortunate. We have three children and thirteen grandchildren, who are the light of our lives. Our greatest joy is spending time with our family. I grew up in England where I recieved my teaching degree. I now live in Arizona, but am lucky to have returned to England many times as I am the only member of my family that emmigrated to America. I love to read, to walk, listen to good music and I am passionate about family history work. Life is good!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in England I was a very active member of a Protestant church and was very content and busy teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and had no desire for change. That is until two young missionaries came to my home and introduced me to "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints" or Mormons, a church that was totally new to me. They challenged me to read the Book of Mormon, which I did nonstop. I kept waking up during the night and reaching for the book wanting more. I received a strong witness of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. Two weeks later I asked the missionaries to baptize me. Fifty years later I still have a testimony, and I am grateful for the peace and joy that the Gospel brings into my life.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities for service in the church, both in leadership and teaching. At the moment I have two callings. I am a ward family history consultant helping people to research their ancestors, and build their family tree, connecting the present with the past, in one great family. My husband and I are also serving a one day a week service mission in an LDS Employment Resource Center. We help those who are unemployed with online tools and educational resources to assist them in their job search. We also provide a listening ear and empathy. Attending church and partaking of the sacrament, reading the scriptures and daily prayer all help me to be closer to my Savior.
