Hi I'm Jason

I grew up in Washington State. I'm a U.S. Army veteran. I'm a husband and father of two wonderful children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of two wonderful children. I like playing games with them or enjoying nature on a hike. Laughing and playing with my family makes my day. I became a Mormon when I went to college, thanks to my mother and sister (and some great missionaries). I am a veteran of the U.S. Army--I really enjoyed the challenges and the opportunity to serve with so many great people. I love to read! I enjoy reading most types of books from history to sci-fi/fantasy.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother grew up as a Mormon, but was inactive when I was born. I did not go to church while growing up and did not have a desire to follow a religion. My sister felt differently and joined the church. This spurred my mother to become active again and she encouraged me to attend church with her. Like any teenager, I resisted. I converted to the church after I felt the welcome peace that the Holy Ghost can bring to my life. The more I understand the Gospel and the harder I work at following my Savior's example, the happier I am.

How I live my faith

I like the service opportunities that are constantly available through my ward. Being a Mormon requires involvement, either teaching, speaking or serving others. I enjoy the level of committment that this involvement demands--from spending the day clearing up a yard to studying scriptures to be ready for a Sunday School lesson. My favorite callings have been serving with the youth--either with the Boy Scouts or Cub Scouts. It is a blast to have fun with the youth while helping them learn and achieve their goals. I think anyone could have fun hiking to the summit of Mt. St. Helens with the Scouts!
