Hi I'm Shawntel Ashcroft

I grew up in Mesa, AZ. Graduated from ASU with a BS in Accountancy. I'm a mom of 3 kids and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work part time as a teachers aid for an elementary school while I continue my eductation to get a Masters degree in Secondary Education focused in Math. I love teaching children and helping them to learn. My hope is to be able to reach those that are struggling with math concepts and find creative new ways to help them to relate to math and have it become a concept they can understand and retain. Recently my family had the opportunity to live in Europe in the Netherlands. This was fantastic experince. My three children learned to speak Dutch fluently and I learned to speak it ... less fluently ;-). We live in the Netherlands for 3 years and enjoyed learning about the differences in our culture and about the fun holiday traditions they have. The country itself is very beautiful, however the thing that I especially enjoyed was the people of the Netherlands. I will always be greatful for the amazing warm friendly nature and kindness of the people there. I love being a mom to my three children who are amazing kids, by the way. I love seeing them learn, progress, and develope there talents in music, math, reading, and sports.

Why I am a Mormon

At first I was a Mormon because all my family are Mormons. However, now I am a Mormon because of the gospel of Jesus Christ and how it teaches me to be close to him. Everyday I meet up with something that is hard or difficult. I have learned that I can turn in prayer daily, hourly to my Father in Heaven and get the strength and calmness I need to make it through my day. I love going to the Temple. It is in the temple that I can pray and receive the clearest answers. I can been concerned about a child or stressed about my marriage and go to the Temple and pray and come out knowing what I need to do with the most peaceful feeling knowing everything will be o.k. I love the Temples. I love the promises of the Temple that my family can be sealed together forever. The we are together forever. That is the greatest blessing of all. I am so grateful for the lessons on the atoment that are taught so often. How we are human and we will make mistakes. How we can ask for forgiveness from our Heavenly Father and then continue to try to do better. This is why there was the attonment. Because no of us are perfect. Even though we try so hard to do what the Lord has commanded. I'm so grateful for these lessons that are taught in church that remind me that I can repent and keep trying.

How I live my faith

I feel like serving others is very important and giving of our time to help others out when possible is something Jesus taught. I try to give of my time through helping in Church with Visiting other ward members to make sure they are doing o.k. each month (this is called visiting teaching). I also try to help out by substituting as a teacher in the youth sunday school classes to teach the class when the teacher does not show up. Last I try to donate a small portion of my income to the poor and needy (called fast offering) to help them out in times of hardship.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Shawntel Ashcroft
Through reading the scriptures I have come to know Heavenly Father better. By living his commandments I am able to show him that I love him. Through Prayer I am able to share my daily concerns and receive peice and understanding. Each day I come to know my Heavenly Fathers love for me more. Show more Show less
