Hi I'm Tim Sharp

I am serving a mission in Minneapolis. I love my family. I love sports, hunting, and music. I'm a momma's boy. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Tim. I'm an eighteen year old kid attending Arizona State University studying Biology in order to get into Dental school. I run my own small lawn business, I am preparing for a mission, and I enjoy alot of things. I am a very musical guy. I have played the piano for years, I love singing, especially in the shower. I listen to music constantly, and just love music! I listen to everything! I also enjoy sports and played basketball, volleyball, and ran cross country in high school. I love hunting, hiking, mountain biking, and being out in the world. I spend as much time as possible at my family's cabin and when I'm there, I'm in paradise. Not only is it beautiful, but I can draw nearer to Heavenly Father, and I can be with my family. When I think of the happiest, most peaceful moments of my life, I imagine there with my family all around me. My family is my greatest joy in the world, from my youngest baby brother to my grandparents, to my 80 plus cousins! The joy I have from knowing that I can live with them in Heaven when we die is indescribable. Up in the mountains, I escape the world. I forget my struggles at home and just let go. I am a normal kid. I work hard, I am very busy, I stress about school, friends, and other things, and I am always being weighed down in some way by Satan. Up there, I have a place where I can be alone with my Father in Heaven. Up there, I feel close to Home. I love my family and I am grateful to be a member of the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know why I'm here and where I'm going. Because of my testimony of Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, and a living prophet who guides His children, I know what I need to do to return to Him. I know that I am a Child of God. I know I am here to go through trials and grow to be more like my Father. While I'm here, I know I'll mess up, but I also know that our Father loves us so much that He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to die for us. In his sufferings, He completed the "Atonement" and payed the price for our sins. Not only did he die for the sins of all mankind, but for each and every pain or sorrow we go through, mentally, physically, and spiritually. It's not necessarily something we can comprehend, but I know for a fact that because of Him, I can repent and be clean. I have felt the peace that comes from repenting and I have felt His loving arms wrapped around me. I know He lives and that one day I will see His face. I know this gospel is true. I know that my family is forever so that when we die, we will be together with our Father in Heaven for eternity. Our happiest moments on earth are just a glimpse of the blessings that Heavenly Father is willing to share with us if we obey Him. I am a member of Christ's church because I have felt his love for me. I have prayed to Him and felt Him listening. I want to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I know Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God, just as was Abraham, Moses, and the many others who now stand with Him in Heaven watching over us. I have read the Book of Mormon and recieved a personal knowledge that it is true. It has brought me closer to God than any other thing on this earth. It is written by the hand of God to guide His children. I have felt His love for me. I am SO happy. That's how I know it is true. It brings me peace and I love to share that peace with everyone I meet because I want them to be happy too.

How I live my faith

I have participated a lot in the church. I am an Eagle Scout and I have spent hours and hours helping other people. I love it because it makes me, them, and Heavenly Father happy. I have been a leader in scouts and a group leader for the young men for a long time. Right now, I am preparing for a mission, attending mission prep classes, and taking a class that teaches me to be a better teacher. In it, I get to teach high school Seminary. I am also a Boy scout leader over the eight year olds, a teacher in church, and a "home teacher." Home teaching is a program set up for the men of the church to watch over each family in the ward (the area). In it, each man has a companion and they visit a few families at least once a month and help them come closer to Christ and basically just serve them.) That's really all the gospel is, service. That's all Christ did. He served out of genuine love for the people. I want to be like Him and love ALL people. I live my faith by going to church, reading my scriptures, and praying often to my Father. I try my best to follow the commandments in the scriptures and follow Christ's teachings. I listen and try to apply the counsel from The Prophet and all the other church leaders. They tell us, especially the youth, things that will keep us away from the evils of the world. Basic counsel like having good language, not partaking of harmful substances like alcohol, and not having sex before marriage keep us on the right path. Sometimes, I'll admit, it is hard to keep every commandment we have been given because alot of the world tells us that it doesn't matter. They tell us that drugs and immoral behavior will make us "happy", but I know that I am happiest by following the teachings of Jesus Christ and keeping my standards high. My goal is to set a good example to others around me, my younger brothers, and my friends. I want to be like Christ and I live His gospel by following His teachings and loving everyone.
