Hi I'm Leon E Peterson

I'm a Mormon, born and raised in Central Utah (Redmond). My family goes back to the early days of the church (1835).

About Me

I am a retired construction truck driver. I served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict. I married Shirley Braithwaite in 1950. We had four children, 1 boy and 3 girls. Unfortunately we divorced 1965 and she moved to the Chicago area where she and the children, grand children, and great-grandchildren still. I married Peggy Jean Verdon in 1967. She joined the church in 1976. We enjoyed 40 years together until she passed away in 2007. I have to admit to having unusual hobbies. I have been a square dancer for many years. More unusual is that I am a quilter, making crocheted quilts. I am the 6th child of 10, but 3 of my older siblings passed away as infants. My father was a farmer and a truck driver, raising mostly sugar beets and alfalfa. He was a freelance truck driver, having his own truck.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is the only thing I know and because I know it is true. Because of the Korean War I did not serve a mission, but I have been a ward and/or stake missionary. Although I have not always been active, particularly when I was moving a lot, I have always had a strong testimony of the church and did not wander far. I have served a number of positions in the church, primarily in priesthood and Sunday School. I have been very active since I came back to church and particularly enjoy temple work.

How I live my faith

Activity. Although I am a senior citizen I work hard and do as much as I can. Just keep on, keeping on. Prayer, study, activity, temple. aid missionaries.
