Hi I'm Melissa

I grew up in Idaho. I'm now living in Arizona with my husband and 3 kids - one with autism. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

A few years ago I was asked to sit on a panel and answer some questions for the young women in our church. We had been given a copy of the questions before hand so that we could have some time to prepare. One of the questions was something along the lines of "Why do you choose to live the gospel?" I had to think for a long time about this. I was born into the church. My parents, their parents, their grandparents... our family goes back to the pioneer days of the church. So the gospel was almost like a habit and I had never asked myself why was I still making the choice to live the gospel now. I continued to think about the question. Then the thought came to me that there are two ways to live this life... there's the hard way and the harder way. This life isn't easy! There are challenges and struggles all along the way, but the gospel gives us hope and peace and comfort. Being a member doesn't mean that your life will instantly fall into place and everything will always work out perfectly. But it does help me to understand that my struggles have a purpose and that Heavenly Father will always be there for me - His daughter. And so, I choose to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I choose to sustain the Prophet and all the other leaders. I choose to live the standards and commandments given to me. Because for me, living the gospel makes this life just a little bit easier to understand and gives me hope of better things to come.

Why I am a Mormon

I enjoy serving in the church. For the last few years I have been working with the children in our ward. I love to hear them sing! There is nothing better than a choir of young kids singing their hearts out! Y

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith through example. I'm not always able to express myself very well through words (it has taken me several hours to fill this out!). But I hope that people can look at my actions - the way I treat my family, friends, strangers... and they can see something different about me. I know that I am not always Christ-like. But it is a goal that I have and that I'm striving to live each day.
