Hi I'm Thain

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from BYU with an accounting degree, and earned my CPA a year later. I worked for the public schools as the Director of Finance. I am retired and have been married for 54 years. I am the father of 5 children and 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Raising my family has been a great hobbie. I took my children waterskiing and they all learned to ski and swim. I bought four motor cycle dirt bikes and we enjoyed riding in the desert and mountains. I taught the boys to repair broken clutch handles on the cycles after they had spills. I taught them to repair the engines, and gave them responsibilitie to make our trips fun. The chores were done on Friday so we could spend all day Saturday in family activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I was taught in my youth to believe in Jesus Christ and to obey God's commandments. My third great grandfather was with Joseph Smith in Nauvoo. When the mob drove the families out of Nauvoo my grandfather's family went with Brigham Young to the Salt Lake Valley. They build homes in the different locations where they were sent to settle in Utah and Idaho.. The examples of their good service to their friends and the Mormon Church was an example of a hero for me to follow. I loved my Heavenly Father and felt his blessings in my life and guiding me in times of trouble and fear. I have peace in my life knowing I can pray and get help from God when I am in need. I pray for the protection of all my children when they are away from home and I feel peace knowing God will watch over them and they wil be safe and return, being able to resist the temptations of the evil one.

How I live my faith

I have paid ten percent of my income as tithig to the Lord all my life. I have been responsible for recording the tithing for our church and know how very careful the Lord's money is turnd over to the correct authorities responsible for the financing of our church's needs. There are no paid clergy or officials in our church. We all work for a living and donate offerings to help the poor and needy to have their wants taken care of, besides giving our tithing donations. Each month I am responsible for a visit to care for three families in our location. We talk about how the Lord can bless us and I try to leave a blessing of peace in each home. If there is a need of a blessing to someone who is very sick we have a special pray for them along with the laying on of hands to their head, the way Jesus Christ did when he was upon the earth. Sunday is a special day in our family, we attend church meetings and rest from our labors. We do not shop or do recreational activities on Sunday. I taught my children to pray and have daily scripture study. They are raising their children to love and serve the Lord, and serve each other.
