Hi I'm Debra G.

I'm 45 years old and work for the federal government. I am a single parent with two kids, I love country music, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm forty-five years old and a single parent of two children. I am divorced. While I had thought I had married my eternal companion, I was later surprised to find out that all the hopes and prayers in the world could not make this love last. I have hopes that somewhere down the line I might meet someone new, but for now I am focussed on my family and career. I am working to improve myself, something I have neglected to do for years. I am learning new things, getting in shape and laughing more. I adopted my second child as a single parent through the foster system. My kids are great and we enjoy each other's company. I am a college graduate with a master's degree in public administration. I work for the federal government. I enjoy reading, cooking, and gardening. I am an avid Denver Bronco's and Rockies fan. Even though they have not been winning lately I am ever the optimist about their future.

Why I am a Mormon

I know God is my father in heaven. I love that there is a plan for our lives and that we each matter. I know that God talks to prophets, just as he has done in the past to provide us with inspiration and direction in our lives. The church gives me a sense of family, a sense of belonging and purpose. When I was younger I explored many different religions, some mainstream and some not. I have danced with the Krishnas, chanted with the buddists, shouted at the old fashioned revivals and many Hail Mary's. None of the other religions have felt right. It is as a Mormon that I feel closest to God.

How I live my faith

I try to do what is right, not what is popular. I attend church, well maybe not every week, but nearly so. I pray to my Heavenly Father daily and seek inspiration when making serious decisions. I tell my children they have eternal souls. I try to volunteer my time to community events and good causes. I am a teacher in my women's group at church. I try to me a good example at work and at home.
