Hi I'm David

I'm a husband, father, grandfather, IT technician, long suffering San Diego Padre and Charger fan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised by a Catholic father and Methodist mother. Both faith backgrounds inspired my foundational faith in Jesus Christ from an early age. Coming from that background I was prepared for the message of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and joined the LDS church at age 19. One year later I served a mission to Central America in the countries of Panama and Costa Rica. Upon my return to the United States I married my high school sweetheart in the LDS Temple located in Los Angeles and together we raised five amazing children. I am now a grandparent and enjoy the tremendous happiness that life provides while fully embraced in the gospel of Jesus Christ. My life has had its share challenges and difficulties. One of my greatest was when our eldest child was killed in an automobile accident when she was 21. The eternal gospel perspective has given me comfort as we suffered through a parents worse nightmare of losing a child. I have worked for 30 years in information technology in the financial industry. I look forward to growing old with my wife and enjoying many more years to come together, hopefully someday witnessing a San Diego championship in Padre baseball and Charger football!

Why I am a Mormon

I can remember from an early age feeling the warmth of the spirit as I read the Bible and participated in the Catholic faith tradition, serving as an Altar boy in my early teenage years. My mother’s Methodist inspired faith also instilled a great love of God in my life. I love history, especially religious history, and was amazed how beautifully the message of the apostasies and restorations of Christ’s church throughout the ages fit with what I perceived in the conflicting religious world during my older teenage years. At age 19, upon hearing the first vision visitation of God the Father and His son Jesus Christ to the boy prophet Joseph Smith, which ushered in the final restoration of Christ’s church in these last days, my earlier years of feeling the spirit and faith in Jesus Christ were relived deep inside of me and I decided to join the LDS church. I was like a sponge learning the fullness of the gospel and how it made my beliefs from my younger years become clearer and more meaningful. Reading the Book of Mormon brought me great insight into the Bible and I discovered wonderful truths and meaning from verses I never really understood before. God is the father of my spirit and Jesus Christ is not only my savior, as I had always known, but my brother too! The family of God made sense to me and that we are all on earth for a purpose, that we lived with God as spirit children before our birth on earth, and that we can live with Him again with our families after we leave this earth. This brings me great peace and is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my Christian Mormon faith to the best of my ability. I know my imperfections and rely on my continual commitment to aligning how I live my life with my beliefs. My faith in Jesus Christ is always with me and helps me to be sensitive to others of different backgrounds and beliefs. I enjoy discussing my beliefs and listening to the beliefs of others. I try to be a good husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, co-worker, and friend. Living Jesus Christ’s gospel helps me in that endeavor. I am grateful for my life and feel very blessed and I try to serve others at church, in the community, and most importantly in my home.
