Hi I'm Matt Boothe

I'm a husband and a dental student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married to my dream girl for three and a half years, and we've been dating for almost eight. We have a crazy little dog and no children. I studied Russian at BYU, and I'm now in my second year of dental school. When I'm not busy with school work I love to just hang out and relax by visiting with family, catching up on my TV shows from the week, watching movies, playing Xbox, or reading. I also love to watch and play sports.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the teachings just make sense. It's really comforting to know that there is a God who loves us and has a plan for us, and a Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins. Also, thanks to the church I know the answers to some of life's most important questions, like why are we here, what is the purpose of life, and what happens after death. It's cool to know that I'll still be able to be with my family after this life.

How I live my faith

I go to Sunday services, and on Wednesday nights I volunteer with the Cub Scout Pack affiliated with our local meetinghouse. I also love all the service opportunities organized by the church. For example, I was able to go on a two-year service mission to St. Petersburg, Russia, and it was such an awesome experience.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Matt Boothe
Just talk to any member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or "Mormon" church. Ask them what they believe in and what the church is all about. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Matt Boothe
The nickname "Mormon" comes from The Book of Mormon, which is a set of scriptures similar to the Bible. The Book of Mormon teaches about Jesus Christ, and was written by prophets living in Ancient America. We believe that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Matt Boothe
The Book of Mormon was written by prophets living in Ancient America. It contains their history, as well as the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was translated by Joseph Smith. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Matt Boothe
Yes, I really believe that. Why would a loving God call prophets thousands of years ago, but leave us to fend for ourselves? Today we have unique challenges that didn't exist back when the Bible was compiled, and so God continues to call modern-day prophets to lead us in our modern-day world. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Matt Boothe
Joseph Smith was a man that lived in America in the early 1800s. When he was 14, Joseph wanted to find a church to join, but since all the churches taught different things, he wasn't sure which one was correct. So he decided to pray and ask God which church was true. As an answer to his prayer, God told Joseph that at the time none of the existing churches were true, and that he shouldn't join any of them. Several years later God called Joseph as a prophet and restored the church that Jesus Christ had established during His ministry. Show more Show less
