Hi I'm Stephen

I grew up in New Zealand, am happily married and moved to Australia, a few years ago. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work for the State Government, in the education and training field, and love to help people to achieve their career goals. I play the guitar badly, sing out of tune and am trying to learn to play the ukelele my son bought me. Family history is a passion, shared just by me at the moment, but I love finding out about my family. I enjoy eating and spending time with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were converts, and so I was born into a Mormon family and have been attending church all my life. I remember flying in a chartered plane to the NZ temple, so we could be a famly forever, which as a primary school aged boy, was cool and exciting. I served a mission in the Philippines, which was an awesome experience and I really grew to love the wonderful Filipino people. I am happily married with three children, married in the NZ temple, so that we could be together forever - can be a scary thought sometimes.... Being a Mormon is not always easy, but it is the right thing for me, it brings me peace and much joy.

How I live my faith

I currently help people in the church with education and employment information, running career workshops, assisting them with resumes and job search techniques. I also work with our Young Adults, 18-30 yr olds, helping and guiding them and being a support to them. We are currently planning a talent show for our big Convention over New Years, where over 1000 people will attend. Once a month or two, I go out and visit families to make sure they are ok and leave a special message. If I am in the mood, I will bake brownies, which are yummy according to the families, and drop them off, with our message. Service is a very important part of our faith and I enjoy being of service. When the floods came, a group of us drove to a flooded area and wandered into a flooded home and just started to help with the cleanup. We also made sandwiches and did some baking, to drop off to the other workers, like many other people.
