Hi I'm Alex

I'm a cardigan lover, a tree hugger, and a crock pot enthusiast. I'm a Hoosier and a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 23 years old and I'm a full-time missionary. I'm from Southern Indiana and Northeastern Pennsylvania and I have a big heart for both states, though I love to travel anywhere. I sing and play baritone and I've got a passion for marching band. I'm a big arts and crafts person. I'm a blogger who loves her friends and family. I've completed a year of college in journalism but I plan to return to school for a associates degrees in library science and retail management, possibly followed by a bachelor's degree in English language.

Why I am a Mormon

I was hanging out with a friend one night during my first year of college when I noticed a book on his shelf about Mormonism. I asked him about it and we ended up talking about the church. I borrowed the book and he later gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon. Some time later he invited me to go to church with him and I loved it. I was shocked at how comfortable I immediately felt there, like it was where I belonged. I started attending every Sunday. I eventually began meeting with the missionaries and a few months later I was baptized. That was one of the best decisions I'll ever make. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true because I gained a testimony of it for myself. No one ever tried to convince me of the truth of anything taught by the church. I was never pressured or nagged. The church simply invites everyone to read the Book of Mormon and pray about its truth to find out for themselves. It's such a beautiful concept.

How I live my faith

At home I run a blog about the gospel of Jesus Christ, church news, spiritual experiences, and other topics related to my faith. I attend church every Sunday and I help teach lessons with the full-time missionaries whenever I can. I pray and read the scriptures daily. I do my best to keep the commandments of God, and to be a witness of Christ in all things. I strive to do everything I do in love. (1 Corinthians 16:14) But for now, everything is on hold for eighteen months while I serve the Lord as a full-time missionary. I get to serve others and teach them about God seven days a week!

How can I know Mormonism is true?

I want you to know that The Book of Mormon has changed my life immeasurably for the better. This is a book of Holy Scripture. This book is truth. I know that it can help you as it has helped me. I know for a fact that the Book of Mormon is true. It contains the true gospel of Jesus Christ, restored from the Church organized by the Savior himself. This book will bring you closer to our heavenly father and to Christ. -Read it. -Pray about it. Ask your Heavenly Father if these things are true. -The Holy Spirit will testify of its truth to your heart. You can apply this process to anything that the church teaches, including the validity of the church itself. In fact, as Latter-day Saints we are encouraged to pray about everything to find out the truth for ourselves. Try it. I promise you won't regret it if you pray with a sincere heart to know the truth.
