Hi I'm Rick

I grew up in San Diego surfing, skateboarding and playing two man volleyball. I love to play guitar and sing, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of six boys and one girl... six hits, one miss! I get in trouble every time I say that. I have been a proud Scout leader for the last 6-7 years and have been chosen to be Course Director twice for NYLT. My sons are on their path to Eagle and working hard. I love to play guitar and have 19 guitars hung up on the wall in the living room. We decided not to go the formal living room route, so out went the couches and in came the guitars, amps, microphones and drum set. We have game tables, foosbal, and constant activity. We love to make a joyous noise to the Lord. I own a construction company so every thing in the house is falling apart, as soon as I get around to it I'll fix it all...my wife threatens to hire a construction company to get it all done. Irony is so funny!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up without the blessings of true priesthood in our home. My parents were wonderful but I always knew something was missing. I thought that the things of the world must be what I was in need of and involved myself in the selfish pleasures the world had to offer. I was never truly happy with the things I was doing. I searched and searched for what was incomplete in my life and found my Father was waiting for me just around the corner and all I had to do was move towards Him. It was not an overnight realization. It took years of study and heartfelt introspection to put my past behind and start fresh with what I knew was pleasing to my God. The doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Later Day Saints answered all the questions needed to convince my head to join my heart in joining the true church. My heart jumped for joy when I heard the gospel and wanted to get baptized right then, but my head was much slower. They're finally together and I have found the joy I knew my Father had in store for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily by leading the youth of my ward in the scouts. I teach them that the 12 points of the scout law are the way Christ told us to live. I show my children how to act in the right way even in these troubling times. Our youth need more examples and less talks. We could solve every problem in the world if we would all just follow the Lords directive and "do Good".

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

In 1820 a 14 year old boy read in the scriptures that if you lacked knowledge you could ask of the Lord and He would answer you. Joseph Smith Jr. had Faith and went to the woods to ask in prayer. His question was simple, he thought, "what church should I join?" His answer was the beginning of the final dispensation of the gospel to Man. Joseph was chosen by God to be the prophet to restore the true church with all it's priesthood, ordinances. laws, oaths, covenants as it was from the beginning. Show more Show less
