Hi I'm Lorien

I'm a work from home Mother of two, a professional photographer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in a small town in central Washington. Although I grew up a member of this church, my parents were always supportive of my attending other churches and learning of other religions. I have been to the meetings of various churches and studied many different religions. I have been blessed to feel the light of Christ testify of the truths that each of them has. I have degrees in Sociology and Women's Studies, with a minor in Environmental Science and Resource Management. I believe in caring for each other and the planet on which we live. We are all sons and daughters of a Heavenly Father, who loves us, and wants for us to love and care for each other. I have been married to the same man for just under ten years. We have been blessed with two beautiful and healthy children. Our family is really the most important thing in our life, and everything that we do, is for them. I love the fact that through God's priesthood, my family can and has been sealed to each other for time and all eternity! Many of my personal beliefs and attitudes stem from the fact that I want to make this world a better place for my children to grow up and raise families of their own in.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's true church here upon the Earth. I was blessed to be born into a family that already had the gospel in their lives, but I gained a testimony for myself through prayer. I was eighteen-years-old when I knelt in my college apartment and pleaded with my Father in Heaven to know for myself. He answered my prayer, just as he will answer the sincere heart felt prayers of all of his children. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." ~James 1:5-6.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by small everyday acts. I am a survivor of sexual assault. This is something that has really impacted the direction my life has taken. I believe that the atonement of our older brother, and Savior, Jesus Christ is enough to heal me through the forgiveness of my attacker. I try each day to spread love and understanding. I am not perfect, but try each day to be and do better. We live in turbulent times. It saddens me to witness the choices of some of my spiritual brothers and sisters. I do mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, because of those choices, but cannot rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. As Martin Luther King Jr. stated, "Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." I strive to drive out that hate by my everyday words and actions. I strive to teach my children, by example, what it means to have the love of Christ. I have always wanted to make a difference in this world, and although life has sometimes gone differently than I planned, I believe that my Father has and continues to provide me with opportunities to do so.
