Hi I'm Christy

I'm a proud Texas Longhorn. I'm a dancer. I'm a Diabetic. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a current student aspiring to become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. I am fascinated with the way the brain learns and develops and I am passionate about pursuing a career choice that will allow me to help those who were given greater challenge in this life. As a child I was diagnosed with Diabetes and I can recall the doctors who helped guide me through a scary time in my life. I hope to be that beacon to the children I work with in the future. During my free time from studying I love to dance. I love experimenting with the movement of the human body and what all it can do. While I have a greater ballet background, I love any and all dance movement from Salsa to Contemporary to dancing around my bedroom before school.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born into the LDS religion, however I have truly gained my own testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel since my time at school. To go from living with your parents to being on your own in an area with a small minority of members requires you to commit to your own beliefs. For me, everyday I walk onto campus with the knowledge that I know my Heavenly Father and I have the comfort of the Spirit with me whenever I need it. I know where I came from. I know where I'm going. I don't need to experiment with finding my identity in college. I know who I am. I know my purpose in this life. And I know I'll be with my family forever. And that knowledge is more important to me than anything I could learn in any classroom.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life as close to Christ's teachings as I can. I start each day with a prayer to my Heavenly Father that He might be able to use me to bless the lives of those around me, that I might be a tool in His hand. Although I can't say I always evade selfish thoughts and actions, I have had numerous experiences that have testified to me this understanding that we are all here to help each other to grow and develop. I've personally been blessed by the strong examples of other members of my faith and I know that surrounding myself with the light of those around me has brought me even closer to my Heavenly Father . I've also had tremendous opportunities to work closely with members of my church to accomplish common goals and I can testify that when a group centers its purpose on accomplishing the Lord's work miracles can happen.
