Hi I'm Charlene Jenkins

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 4 grandmother of 12 and wife to the most wonderful guy in the world. I am trained as a midwife and I love to run 5K, 10K, half marathons and will try my first full marathon the summer of 2012. I love to sing, dance, and spend time with my children and grandchildren. I like to making up new recipes and am try to eat gluten free. I also am trying to cure my hot flashes with my diet. If I succeed I will let you know how I did it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church so was baptized when I was 8. I was able to testify that I believe the church is true when I was baptized again just 20 years ago and know that I have been blessed by being a member of the Mormon church. I don't know where I would be if I were not a member. I know that I have an addictive personality and I have been told by healthcare professionals that if I had not been taught in my youth to follow the Word of Wisdom I would be a drug addict. I feel the church has saved my life in more ways that I can tell. I'm so grateful that I had the chance to confirm to myself that I want to be a member of this church. I know that being a member of the LDS church is one of the most wonderful gifts I have from my Father in Heaven. I would be lost without it!

How I live my faith

It is so much a part of my life! I rely on the guidance of the Holy Ghost in my work as a midwife. I have to know if the baby is going to be safe if we stay at home and I know there are things that you don't find from the books. It is wonderful to know that I have an advantage when I am at a birth. I also love having the Word of Wisdom that guides me in my diet. It is good to have more than just the lastest diet fad to guide me in my food choices. I love that if I follow the Word of Wisdom I can run and not be weary and walk and not faint.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Charlene Jenkins
The Lord chooses the prophet. We get to sustain him. It is a wonderful feeling knowing that the church is directed by a prophet that the Lord has chosen. I know this to be true. It is wonderful to see how each prophet has his own personality and that they are called to lead when the Lord wants them to lead. When they have finished what the Lord wanted them to do they get to be released from their calling and get to go and rest with the Lord. I hope that Pres Monson gets to stay with us for a while still. I so enjoy his personality and the way he teaches us. Show more Show less
