Hi I'm Jackie

Played college volleyball, served a mission, graduated from college with a Bachelors. I am a wife, a mother of four and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mother of five beautiful children, three girls and two boys. I love my children dearly and am so grateful to be their mom! However, life is crazy, noisy, chaotic, stressful, messy, and it is verified to me almost on a daily basis that, "my hands are full." But some friends once told me, "better full hands than empty," also "full hands now, happy hearts later." and I agree 100%! Besides nurturing, raising, cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, doing laundry, changing soiled diapers, teaching, disciplining, loving, hugging, kissing, tidying, serving, and every other daily task that goes along with being a mom I thoroughly enjoy playing volleyball. I love the chance to release my energy and exercise my body. My husband is a seminary teacher and I have enjoyed being apart of his career and getting the chance to interact with the youth. I enjoy crafts, and creating when I get a chance. I love going on dates with my husband, leisurely riding bikes, going for walks, watching good movies, listening to music, reading good books, spending time with my girl friends. I enjoy visiting new places, trying new foods (especially the sweet ones!) But my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family, nothing is sweeter.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was raised a Mormon. I continue to follow our Saviors gospel because I feel the spirit and am blessed as I strive to live the commandments and live what I know to be true. When I prayed to know if Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon were true, so that I could have a testimony for myself, that answer that I felt was "you know it is true, and that he is a prophet because of the way you feel." When I am doing what is right the spirit is my companion and I love the confidence he gives me, the inspiration, the creativity, the love and compassion and desire to do better and be better. The gospel has always been a steady foundation in my life because it is unchanging. Life is always changing, evolving and throwing curve balls at me but with the gospel I know things will be okay. I was 8 when I was baptized and I remember that I felt so good and was so happy that day. I loved the feeling so much that I wanted to be baptized again and couldn't wait to be 12 and do baptisms for the dead. I am a Mormon because I know this gospel is true, because as I testify the spirits testifies to me that what I am saying and feeling is true!

How I live my faith

I am teaching the 12-13 year old Sunday school class and look forward to being with the youth. They are the rising generation and I hope that by being their teacher I can affect them for good and be an example of righteous living and someone they can look to for help during these troubled times. I also visit teach ladies in my ward. So once a month my companion and I prepare a message and sometimes a treat and go to the homes of these ladies and spend time with them. Give a message, offer service and especially friendship. One of the ladies is not coming to church and it breaks my heart. Even though she has not let us in her home yet I still try to befriend her by calling, dropping by, inviting her family to my house for dinner and giving goodies when possible. My husband and I try to attend the temple monthly because we have made covenants there and desire to renew them and learn more about them and partake of the sweet spirit that resides in the temple, because it is a bit of heaven on earth. We have family home evening, family scripture study, family prayer and we also do individual prayers and scripture study. I was taught as a child to pay tithing, give service and magnify my callings as best I can and I hope that I as I strive to live the gospel and teach my children that they too will continue to follow His gospel and want to be a Mormon.
