Hi I'm Lynette

I love grandchildren, the beauties of nature, baking homemade bread, and piano jazz. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a life-long member of the Church and one of six children in my family, I was fortunate to be reared by loving and devoted parents. Now I enjoy being a wife, mother and grandmother myself. Our married children and their little ones are spread across the United States so long-distance nurturing is a priority for me--along with occasional trips to be with them. There is nothing I love more than being the recipient of enthusiastic hugs and kisses from my grandchildren! I enjoy serving in the Church, compiling family history, studying the scriptures, and traveling with my husband, near and far. For many years I performed in orchestras and chamber music ensembles as a violist and did freelance calligraphy. I appreciate good design, contemporary decor--especially Asian--and love to set a simple, yet beautiful, table. I love good literature, puzzles, romantic jazz, and tend to be a night owl, though I'm trying to change that. I also take great delight in baking breads, pies, pastries and other tasty treats. The beauties of nature feed my soul, and gorgeous Colorado skies remind me to keep looking up!

Why I am a Mormon

Whether lifelong members of the Church or converts, there comes a time when individuals need to learn for themselves whether The Book of Mormon and the teachings of the Church are really true. For me that journey of discovery came when I was a young adult. I received a powerful and undeniable witness from God as a result of sincere desire and heart-felt prayers, studying the scriptures, and pondering. It changed the course of my life. I felt that my progression began from that moment on, and I knew that I was headed down the correct path. I have personally--and our family has collectively--received so many blessings along that path. I have come to know that as we gain a correct understanding of the nature of each member of the Godhead and an understanding of our purpose here upon this earth, so much becomes clearer to us. We are filled with hope knowing that God knows each one of us personally and has made a way possible for us to return to His presence. We feel peaceful, even amidst adversity and the chaos of the world. We desire to become the kind of person God wants us to be as we recognize the outpouring of His love in our lives. We are filled with joy in knowing that through Temple ordinances our family relationships can be eternal--not just until death. We can receive the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost and the enabling power of Christ in all that we are required to do. We can know that Christ is at the head of this Church and that he leads us with the help of living prophets and apostles. And we enjoy being part of a world-wide Church family that can feel like home to us wherever we may be. These, and countless other blessings, become ours.

How I live my faith

I try each day to keep the promises that I have made with God, and to live his commandments. I really mess up sometimes but I am learning to repent quickly and try again. Regular scripture study, fasting, prayer, service to others, participating in Sunday worship and remembering to be grateful all help me to recognize the Lord's influence in my everyday life. I like to keep a record of God's tender mercies to me as well as the faith-strengthening experiences that I have. I love serving in the Church. Whether I am involved in teaching the gospel, serving in leadership capacities, nurturing individuals through one-on-one visits, directing or participating in the choir that provides periodic music for our worship services, or numerous other things, I am rewarded. Currently I help to oversee the children's organizations in our area and with that responsibility I get to work with the Scouts (BSA). I never expected to be doing this at this stage of my life, but I am learning, growing, and enjoying it! I know that as I am helping these young people to be prepared for their future lives, I am also being blessed and prepared. It's pretty amazing!
