Hi I'm Luanne

I live. I love. I laugh. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, sister and friend. I love to hang out with my family, sing, ride bikes, read, and drive with the windows down on a cool day! I was born to wonderful parents. I met my husband at age 12, and a young summer crush turned into a lifelong journey together. Through much letter writing and long distance phone calls, we fell in love and have since had four children. I find joy in my famiy. We have two teenagers and two teenagers on the way. :) I am grateful to be a stay-at-home mom. Sometimes I question my skills and ablilities, but then I realize how much I have learned through my life experiences and being a homemaker. I have learned money management skills, cleaning and cooking skills, teaching, listening, counseling, first aid, compassion, patience, etc. I am certainly not perfect at any of these, but I am learning. Before marriage, I spent 2 1/2 years in college studying therapeutic recreation. I then served an 18 month mission for our church in the Bordeaux France area. What an incredible experience! I can speak French! I love the culture and the people. Life hasn't always been easy, but my faith has given me the strength to overcome challenges as they come. Right now, my greatest concern is that my husband and I teach our children all they need to know to make it on their own when the time comes.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church a few years before I was born. I was brought up going to church every Sunday, and participating in children and youth activities. When I was around 15 or 16, I decided I needed to know for myself if this church is true. I had friends in many different religions and felt like I had been exposed to other ideas. I learned through the scriptures that if I wanted to know the truth of things, I just needed to pray to God and He would answer my prayers. I did that in all sincerity, and I got the answer. I just felt an overwhelming feeling of peace as I asked Him if the Book of Mormon was true and if the things I had been taught were true. I felt surrounded by love. I then realized that I had my own assurance that I am a member of God's true church. I no longer had to lean on my parents beliefs. It is the love that I felt that motivated me to serve a mission. I wanted so badly for others to feel that same love I felt. I still do have a great desire for everyone to know how loved they are by a loving Father in Heaven. I know He has a plan for all of us to return to live with him. My understanding is even greater now that I am a parent and that gives me a new perspective of His love. As I study the life of Jesus Christ, I feel the peace of the Holy Ghost and know that He truly is our Savior and that it is through Him that we are able to return to our Father! And I also know that His plan provides a way for us to be with our loved ones forever!

How I live my faith

I love the opportunity we have to attend church every Sunday as a family. I find so much strength in worshipping with others of my same faith. Right now I have the privelege to work with the children in our church. I spend time teaching the children the gospel through music and singing. I love it! Children carry such a sweet spirit about them. I love their thirst for learning. I learn much from them. I also belong to the women's organization of the church. Through this organization, I am given opportunities to serve others, learn skills that will strengthen my home and family, and to rub shoulders with women I can relate to. I have been the recipient of much service as well. When I have been ill, or when I had my babies, there was always someone willing to provide a meal, child care, or a listening ear. It is such a great network that reaches to all women in our community. I am grateful for the life long friendships I have made. I love knowing that we have so much in common. I am a mom who wants the best for her children, and I find that studying the scriptures and praying with them everyday gives us the confidence to face our daily lives. I strive to start each day with prayer and study on my own, so that I can be prepared to follow God's plan for me. I want to be available to use the talents and gifts that He has given me to bless the lives of those around me--my family, neighbors, friends, and people in my community. My heartfelt desire is that I can share the love I feel from my Savior with others through a smile, a kind deed, a listening ear, or whatever He would have me do!
