Hi I'm Mike

I'm an Idaho farm boy that went on a mission, spent eight years as a Marine, and now spends his days in law school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Eastern Idaho as a typical country boy. I went on my mission to Brazil when I was 19 and then back to school when I got home. While I was out, I decided that I wanted to serve in the military so when I got home I went to the Marine recruiter and got everything in order. I watched the Twin Towers fall while getting my enlistment physical and then for the next nine years my life was filled with finishing school and deployments as a Marine Corps infantryman. It was hard at times, but my faith is what softened the heavy blows and allowed me to get back on my feet when something knocked me down. I decided to change careers and somehow landed in law school. So needless to say, my days aren't nearly as exciting anymore. After spending hours in the books, I tend think that I should have been a cowboy instead. In my free time I like to hunt, fish, stay in good shape, and spend time with my family and close friends. Someday I might even get around to learning how to play an instrument, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on that one.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church (actually in the hospital, but you know what I mean). I went on a mission like most young men in my community did, but I didn't really understand the value of it all until my first tour overseas. I found that the gospel was the one thing that could give me hope in the face of injustice and cruelty. I've held onto that and it has carried me through some tough times.

How I live my faith

Imperfectly and one day at a time. When that gets too hard, I do it one decision at a time.
