Hi I'm Pat

I have four children and 14 grandchildren. Feb. 2012 my sweetheart and I will celebrate our 50th anniversary! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I went back to college when I was a grandmother, graduated as a Registered Nurse. I worked as a nurse for 14 years, retireing at the age of 68. I have had a life long interest in art, love water color, sketching and oil painting. I love to spend time with our family, especially the grandkids. Grandchildren give us the opportunity to play again! Currently, we are helping our mothers who are both 90 years old. We took them both to the fair recently, in wheel chairs. They both enjoyed looking at all the exhibits, listening to the musical performances and the comedy acts. We thought we would be there for a couple of hours, but we ended up staying there for seven hours! Our dear mothers wore us out that day! We enjoy traveling and have been to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean. We have been to several of the continental states as well, mostly traveling to see our children. I have also been to London and Paris with my cousin. I am an fitness enthusiast, love dancing, walking with friends and biking. I believe these activities have helped me remain healthy, physically and mentally. Staying fit has also made it possible to continue going places and exploring the world we live in. My husband and I also enjoy gardening and sharing the produce we raise with our children, friends, neighbors and community. Life is good! I hope can remain healthy and active and be of service to our family, and community for many more years.

Why I am a Mormon

I began going to church with friends as a young girl because I wanted to be with them and enjoyed all the activities, especially the dance program. When my friends invited me to go to seminary with them, that was the first time I had ever read or studied the scriptures. We studied the New Testiment that first year. As I learned about our Savior, Jesus Christ, I gained a testimony. It began as a warm feeling deep within me that the things I learned were true. I continued to go to seminary and church, studied the Old Testiment, Book of Mormon and church history, graduating from seminary my senior year. I will be ever grateful for the friends who helped me and encouraged me in my studies, as I explored the truths of the gospel and continued on my journey of learning. Through study and prayer, I knew that the Church held the answers I was seeking. I know true happiness in this life and in the life after death come though the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I will be ever grateful for Joseph Smith, for his translating the Book of Mormon, another testiment of Jesus Christ. I know he was a true prophet of God, brought to earth in our time to restore the gospel to the earth. I had a strong desire to share the truths of the gospel with my family, that we might be sealed together in the Holy Temple for time and all eternity. I didn't think this would ever happen in this life, but in my mothers later years she became active in the church and went to the temple. Then, just a few years ago my younger brother also became active in the Church and we were sealed as a family in the Temple to be a family forever. Happiness and the desires of our hearts can happen if we will follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost and stay true to the teachings of a loving Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for all that blessings I have recieved through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints. I know this church is the true church, restored in our day.

How I live my faith

The Gospel is an integeral part of everything I do. I am currently working in the Temple one day a week. It is wonderful to be in the Temple, the Spirit of the Lord is so strong in the Temple. There is no better place on earth to be. I am a geneologist, I work in the Family History Center in the Church, researching and helping others to find there family roots and reconnect with those who have passed on before them. It is facinating and many times you feel the hand of the Lord guiding you to help the research. Right now, our main mission is to care for our aging mothers. Hopefully I will remember the commandment "Honor thy father and mother." When I get frustrated, I know I can kneel in prayer, my Heavenly Father will strengthen me and guide me, if I but ask. In the past I was actively involved in community service, right now my service is more oriented to the homefront. Still, I want to always be a good neighbor and friend to those around me. I serve as a visiting teacher, visiting four ladies in our church each month. My job is to help them in anyway I can and share a message that can help them in their lives. I am the eyes and ears for our leaders, if these ladies need more help than I can give them, I pass this information on to my leaders. The ladies I visit have also become my friends as we have shared our time, thoughts and feelings. It's a great program. Through this service, no one needs to feel left out or alone.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Mormons do geneology because we believe that families can be together forever, through Heavenly Fathers Plan. In order for this to happen we need to search out our kindred dead. We need to know about our family roots and as much as possible about our families. When we find family connections, we can then take these names to the Temple where we can do sealings for them so our family connections can be maintained in our Heavenly Home when we leave this earth. We believe that the ordinances we do in the Temple must be done on the earth. We can act in proxy for those who have already died and do the ordinances for them. Each person has the right to accept the ordinances that have been completed in their behalf or reject them. I have felt the joy of those who have passed on as others have gone to the Temple and completed these holy ordinances in their behalf. I have seen many miracles and much rejoicing as this work is done. Show more Show less
