Hi I'm Melissa

I am originally from Southern California and now live in Nebraska. I am a mother, wife, and a music therapist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Southern California and now reside in Columbus, Nebraska. How did I get from California to Nebraska? After high school I went to Idaho to attend Ricks College. I then went to Utah State University and completed a degree in Music Therapy. When I was attending Utah State University I found my lovable husband. We now have four energy filled children. We moved here to Nebraska over 6 years ago. We have also live in Utah, California, Alaska, Wyoming, and Idaho. My days are filled with volunteering at my children's school, helping with cub scouts, fulfilling my church calling, playing the piano, working as a Music Therapist with students who have disabilities, and keeping my home and family as peaceful and productive as possible.

Why I am a Mormon

My husband and I have lived in 5 different states in our 16 years of marriage. As I reflect on our lives, each state we have lived in has fond memories of triumph and trials. What is the one constant through all these years.... the Gospel of Jesus Christ. No matter where our family has lived, there is a support of church members striving for the same ideals that our family is striving for. The church and its programs are the same whether I attend in Alaska or Nebraska. The Gospel has proven to me to have the right formula to raise my family in righteousness in a world full of chaos. I know as we participate in the programs the church provides, we will be prepared to live with our Heavenly Father someday. My family is important to me. I enjoy the blessings of the temple knowing that we are sealed together forever. Knowing this helps bring peace to our family. It helps me work more diligently to have good feelings in our home. The experiences and feelings we have here on this earth will carry over and we will remember all. I want to look back on this life as a time of triumph.

How I live my faith

My husband and I love our friends here in Nebraska and try to live our life as best we can to be an example to them. I hope they see that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true because of the way we live. I want everyone to have a sense of spiritual security as we do, even though at times life can be uncertain. I am a music therapy and work with students with developmental disabilities. I use music to help these students develop skills needed in their daily life. Everyday that I go to work, the thought enters my mind, "These are our Heavenly Father's children. What a privilege to serve them." I try to see the students as Heavenly Father would see them and help them learn and grow as he would want them to.
