Hi I'm Patti

I'm a wife, a mother of five children, a former school teacher, a blogger, and a bookkeeper.

About Me

I grew up in Fresno, CA. I'm the daughter of a college professor and a school teacher. I earned Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Elementary Education. I taught elementary school for 7 years. During this time I met and married my husband. We created a Tree Service business together and had five children. This year we sold our Tree business and my husband is attending Law School. I am working on my QuickBooks Pro Certification (bookkeeping). I am a busy mother who spends a lot of time in the car, transporting children to various lessons and activities, but I love it. My family and my religion define me. My family is my crowning jewel, they mean everything to me. My religion gives me focus, meaning and purpose to my life. I am striving to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Latter Day Saint (Mormon) Faith. I realize now what a true blessing that was and I never take it forgranted. My parents were faithful followers of Jesus Christ and I learned by their example. Upon going to college and starting my own life, I had to decide if the Mormon Faith was true and if it was the religion to pattern my life after. Through study of the Book of Mormon, prayer and searching my own feelings, I knew that the teachings I had learned as a child were true. I felt strongly this was the course for my life. I believe the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I believe that we have a living Prophet on the earth today, Thomas S. Monson. I know these things because I have asked God if they are true and I have felt the witness of the Holy Spirit that they are. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Latter Day Saint Faith, I have had many opportunities to serve. Currently I work within the youth organization of our congregation, specifically the 14 and 15 year old girls. I teach a Sunday lesson once a month and help organize mid-week activities. The girls work on goals focusing of Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity and Virtue. They are taught to live high standards of morality and to be disciples of Jesus Christ. I help them understand that they are beloved daughters of God. I have also worked in the Children's organization and the Women's organization. With every opportunity I have to serve, I gain so much more than I give. I feel my life being blessed by serving.
