Hi I'm Karl

I am 84 years old. I am a great-grandfather. I enjoy gardening and sharing my produce with family and friends. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Arizona. I graduated from High School in May 1946 and joined the United States Navy. I was aboard the USS Sea Robin (SS407) when it made the first recorded voyage of a submarine around the southern tip of South America I was sealed to my wife in the Salt Lake Temple in 1953. We are the parents of seven children, the grandparents of 33 and the great-grandparents of 15 with many more to come. Because we were sealed together in the temple we can continue to be a family even after this life. My family and I are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We have lived in many different locations. Wherever we have lived we have actively participated in the ward or branch of the Church in that area. I served in the bishopric or branch presidency in some areas and have been the bishop of two wards.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that the church Jesus Christ set up when He was here on this earth fell into apostasy and the priesthood authority was taken from the earth. I also know that this same priesthood authority was restored to the earth in these latter days and that Christ's church is again upon the earth. Christ set up His church with apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists and all other officers that are necessary for His church to function as He directs. This same organization is in His church today. We again have a living Prophet to help us to understand how we, individually, can best fulfill our purposes while in this life. We are not left without the guidance needed to be wise in choosing the path that will lead us back into our Heavenly Father's presence. Our Father in Heaven is there to give us the inspiration we need in choosing the things we do and say. We are not left to grope in the dark. The light is there if we will just avail ourselves of it. We have the assurance that God will and does hear and answer our prayers. From Him we can recieve the guidance, the inspiration, we need to be wise in choosing the path, the way we live our lives, that will lead us back into His presence. It is up to us to choose how we use our time and opportunities in serving and to growing in the light of the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of my life. I know that it is important for me to regularly attend meetings of the Church in my ward. I have the opportunity, each Sunday to attend Sacrament Meeting and to partake of the sacrament which reminds me of the sacrifice that Christ made for me.  It is important to me to know that He is there, that He is aware of me and that He will guide and inspire me in the way I live my life if I will let Him do so. I have the assignment from my Priesthood leaders to visit certain families in our ward each month to see if they are in need and to give them a short message of encouragement and assurance of the Lord's love for them. It is a calling given to me, through my Priesthood leaders, from the Lord. I know that it is important for me to accept and fulfill this assignment. I know that if I do it well and faithfully the Lord will continue to bless me. When I visit the families assigned to me we pray together that each of us will recieve guidance and inspiration from the Lord to help us overcome the challenges that Satan places in our paths each day of our lives. I know that the Lord answers those prayers. He does help each one of us to recognize those obsticals or challenges and, if we will let Him, shows us how to conquer them.
